Default Speedometer: km vs. miles?

Do the units (miles and kilometres) on the analogue display reflect the km and miles settings?

On the older cars the mile units on the analogue display are printed on and only the digital display reflects km/hour when the units are changes from miles to kilometres.

There is no physical analog speedometer on the 992. The tachometer has a physical needle, but the speedometer is rendered. So, yes, if you change to Km, it will change the display.

Bodes well for Canadians buying US used 992 series cars in that for some of us (me being one), I can never get my head around looking at miles on the speedo. Odd but true...

You would think Americans would be importing Canadian cars. While the exchange rate is around 1.31, the Canadian cars have SRPs that are about 17% higher than the US SRPs.

While a U.S. buyer would have a difficult time getting a Canadian dealer to sell them a new 992 if they identified as such, once the cars are used they will still be cheaper.

I set my US car to km while on European Delivery and I can say when changing units from miles to km only the left hand side speedo and odometer change, to my surprise not the digital speed display on the tachometer. I asked at the factory and the delivery person said they did this to limit cars being sold in different markets like discussed above.

is this still the case when on the US? It’s the opposite of what my GT4 does: it changes the digital display which is the only usable speed indicator.

This would be a real issue!

That’s weird. I mean, how many people actually use the speedo itself? But then Mercedes don’t let you change the temperature between F and C in US delivered cars, but they do everywhere else......when the rest of the world is Celsius! Go figure.
