Default Test drove 992 c2s cab, after owning 991.1 c4s cab and 781 gts

I finally got a chance to test drive 992 c2s cab. I wanted to put my thoughts right away so it is fresh in my mind

1) looks ; imo, 992 cab with sport design and chalk exterior with grey and chalk interior looked so cool. Wide front fenders and overall made it look great esp in cab form
2) interior ;I give it to Porsche that they made the interior look better , nicer ( mini panamera ) but omg , using M button while driving to go to true manual mode is a pain or gettjng out of it . the 991 pdk stick was soo much easier to get into manual mode . The 992 Pdk stick is fine from looks perspective and gives it a modern look but form follows function is lost here
3) Adaptive seats ; many rave that they are better but for me my current 18 ways fit better and lumbar on 992 was a little more tricky to make it flat but may be I have to get used to it but it didn’t fit like I was used to .
4) speed ; the new 992 feels faster may be due to shorter gearing , goes fast , 991.2 gts level, , has incredible traction in rwd form even in cold BUT it didn’t have that sporty feel , goes about its job but in a more clinical way and I really didn’t feel , wow -what a sports car , the sportier feeling I got test driving a 991.2 gts cab /targa 4 gts and. a 781 gts . I also used sport response and it goes fast with awesome grip but somehow car felt bigger and something was missing
5) paddles ; I remember watching Chris Harris Video where he felt the paddles didn’t have much feel and I experienced the same , shifting with paddles was ok, nothing special and going in and out of M mode using a button is not intuitive while watching the road . The stalks to indicate lane change felt better to use. The door handles are fine and have a cool way of going flush and coming out , one easily gets used to them

6) rear camera quality was not bad but not the high definition we see nowadays . Pse was fine , similar to 991.2 pse
unfortunately my test car did not have rws , I walked away less impressed and I was expecting to enjoy it more. This is my honest assessment and how I felt driving it for 20-25 minutes. I was really excited to test drive and Porsche sports cars are special and addictive but somehow I was not thrilled

I, personally, like the 992 much better than the 991.2. I prefer all the styling changes, and preferred the engine/response. I think the nubbin gives it a modern look and I never use the shifter to change gears. Paddles have always been fine with me. It didn't feel all that much, if any bigger to me, since I already thought the 991 was a big car. It made me decide to cancel any thought of a CPO 991.2 from my mind ( and I did like that car)

I got back in my 718 GTS and it felt like a toy. Much smaller, less luxurious and even a bit old school.

The other plus of the 992 is I didn't rip the front end off the car leaving the dealer's lot like I did the 981 Spyder I test drove. I don't baby my cars and just don't have the patience to deal with some of these super low cars for street driving given potholes, speed bumps and driveway ramps. Although I am sure if I was driving on the Autobahn I would prefer the added stability.

Semitone,
It just shows how we all perceive the new 992 , like anything else in life opinions and tastes vary . I got back into my 781 GTS , the alcantara GTS interior and handling /nimbleness made me feel special but you had a different reaction which is also understandable

On the plus side, I felt the 992 and 718 GTS were very different vehicles. When I cross shopped the the 718 GTS and 991.2 GTS I felt like the differences weren't all that substantial, even after driving both for hours on track. I think much of that was visual and tactile, regardless of responsiveness and control. Next time I will do my test drives blindfolded and see how that goes.

OP, what you described is exactly what I felt test driving a 991.2 vs a 991.1. Faster, sharper, and a better performing car all around, but more clinical and disconnected from the driving experience. I thought it was an awesome car, but kinda just across that line of being too refined.

Can you report if the 992 911 was as nimble as your 781 GTS? I'm thinking it was not.
