Accident - Unable to Find Part

Accident - Unable to Find Part
My 992 was in an accident and is currently being repaired. Nothing major, but it needs a part for the fender called a “wing carrier primed” (992805099-y-grv) and the part just doesn’t seem to exist yet. Neither dealerships nor Porsche NA can provide any information about when it will be available. Has anyone run into this with 992 parts or have any idea where to turn? It’s been more than a month with still no help on timing. Thanks.

Contact Rennlister "sgroer". He may be able to offer assistance through a friend he has in the Porsche certified collision bizz. Good luck. Sorry to hear about your accident.

Thanks. I have googled it and called all of the places that say they have it, but when I talk to them they tell me it has been “discontinued” and doesn’t actually exist for sale yet despite the listings. I have tried to order it from xsport and from Gaudin in Las Vegas, but they cancel the order and say part is not available. Crazy that $400 part is holding up fixing this.

I'm surprised Porsche would start shipping 992s without getting parts into the repair network.

Me too - believe me. Porsche NA customer service is completely unhelpful and say there is no timeframe for when it will be available. They clearly have them in Germany them since they are used to make the cars! Completely unacceptable but there is nowhere else to turn it seems.

I think it's most likely a production versus supply and demand issue. New cars and production demand for the parts compared to the market for repair/aftermarket parts supply versus selling new cars. Porsche is focused on production and demand generation for the new 992 and not on parts inventory for new generation of new cars.

I’m not surprised. My friend’s Auto body shop has a badly damaged 9Y0 cayenne that’s been in the shop for over a year now without being able to complete the repair because many parts are still on backorders. Sounds ridiculous but it is true. I guess that’s one problem buying newly redesigned models.

I asked him about this question and the answer is that cayenne owner has several other vehicles, so he wasn’t overly concerned. I’d have freaked out badly if that happens to myself. Couple of years ago my 911 was involved in an accident which took 4 months to be repaired. The fact nothing was majorly damaged just waiting for parts alone took 10-12 weeks.
