There is no way to wake up a Canbus controlled accessory socket short of turning on the ignition.

Doing The Canbus Dance ensures that the socket is awake and that the vehicle ‘knows’ not to turn the socket off in the presence of the Charge-O-Mat Pro.

1. Plug the charger into the footwell socket.
2. Turn the ignition to the accessory position.
3. Plug the charger into your wall socket.
4. Select the appropriate Charge-O-Mat charge mode for your battery type.
5. Turn off ignition and lock the vehicle.
This has worked for some people and not for others.
I follow these dance steps for my CTEK Lithium US charger and it always works perfectly in my 992's footwell socket.
I've tried TWO Porsche charge-o-mat Pros that worked fine in my two previous 991.2s (AGM) but have had zero success with the 992 (Li-Ion mode) - it always shuts down in under 1/2 hour.
Maybe the Canbus dance steps depend on the specific 992 model/year (my 992 is a 2021 TTS) or maybe there are different versions of the charge-o-mat pro (both of mine are a few years old).

True. Sometimes the dance steps don’t work on some cars.
I’ve a friend who has to switch steps 1 and 2 around on his 2020 992 to keep the port alive.

I have a February 2021 992 Turbo S and the Porsche Charge-O-Mat that I purchased with my 991.2 TTS five years ago works perfectly.
My version of the "Canbus Dance" is a follows:
1. Plug the charger into the footwell socket;
2. Turn the ignition to the accessory position; leave key fob in car and wait for 30-60 seconds;
3. Plug the charger into your wall socket;
4. Select the appropriate Charge-O-Mat charge mode for your battery type;
5. Wait for 30-60 seconds; turn off ignition and lock the vehicle ..... taking the key fob with you .

I've been running the Optimate Litho LFP .8amp Charger since 2016 for mainly EarthX batteries. It's cheaper than some of the options here and does some cool stuff like go into sleep mode (so you don't excessively draw and up your bill). Processor type with host of readouts that will let you know whats up with your battery.

Thanks guys.

Should be. Their output exceeds that of the Amperage requirements to activate and have been used on the 997 and up. Now I'm not sure if the Ignition (vehicle) needs to be on to activate the FAL for the 992

Late to the party. Save A Battery (Battery Saver) has complete solutions. Been using them on dozens of cars for a decade. I've got 12 year old Odessy batteries in my 2005 Silverado that show no sign of degradation. Albeit the AntiGravity in my RS is using the Ctek, the 996 GT3, M2CS, and others with Anti-Gravity ,AGM, conventional are doing very well. No sponsorship or affiliation. Just real world experience among car collectors. https://www.batterysaver.com

Lithium are in all Canadian models and USA models with Rear Assisted Steering, I have not heard the same about FAL. That FAL would require a shorter current draw, and is not operating often, so the safe assumption would be that it would not need Lithium's more stable voltage under load like the Cars with RAS. But perhaps all cars with RAS also have FAL... in which case that would be correct.

Recently purchased the CTEK LiFePO Lithium battery charger for my C2S with RAS. Total cost from Amazon including the cigarette lighter adapter and extension cord was $140 delivered.

Simple to use, and it works great!

As others have described, I plug the adapter into the footwell 12 volt outlet, turn on the ignition of the car, then plug the charger into the wall outlet. Within a few seconds the first 3 lights on the charging indicator come on. (I usually wait about 30 seconds to a minute.) Then turn off the ignition, close the door, lock the car and walk away. The charger then usually goes on to trickle charge the battery so that receives a full charge over 24 hours then repeats this cycle every few days. See photos below.

when you hardwired to the battery, did you use the alligator clips or the smaller o-ring type of connector?
I assume you connect to the positive plug if the battery and the negative to the ground post?

O-rings direct to the battery posts.

By any chance do you have a picture of the battery posts?

Did you unwrench the nut, then put in the O-ring wire and re-wrench the nut for the positive post? What about the negative post, does that go into the ground post, how did you clip the o-ring onto that?

Doesn't that create issues with the battery management system? At least on BMWs, connecting directly to the battery posts is not advised. Porsche may be different though.
