Has anyone else noticed that the only 992 model on the USA configurator that allows paint to sample is the C4S Coupe? Has anyone ordered or attempted to order a PTS 992? I'm wondering if Porsche is simplifying the paint to sample logistics.
It's an expensive option for what is currently the most expensive new 911. Not surprising.
PTS typically hasn't been offered on the lower end of the 911 spectrum. The buyer of a base Carrera probably isn't going to drop $12k or more on paint.
I have had two PTS Porsche’s. First was a 987.2 Spyder in Riviera Blue (1 of 4 approved) and the second I did PTS for my 981 Spyder when it was a $5k option (1 of 22 that were approve). IMHO, PTS works with GT and special models... it helps retain the value... both cars I didn’t loose a dime.
For standard models, PTS hasn’t historically done much value wise. Now that PTS cost more than $11k... it might even do the opposite for standard models. The offering time for standard models typically runs a lot longer for standard models as well compared to GT/special models. So that creates less demand as well!
So my build locks in 13 days and I have a C4S allocation... not going to lie... the thought crossed my mind, but 11k is hard to swallow. Also now that Chalk is offered and It’s so close to Sport Classic Grey... I can’t justify it.

It was offered on the base 991.2, admittedly offered and delivered are two different things.
Apologies for I accidentally posted to the wrong thread.
As others have commented, I've had a couple instances where PPF saved the underlying paint and therefore "did its job". I definitely like having the sacrificial layer aspect and as such is worth the cost to me. As for doubling-up on ceramic coatings too, my perspective is the film is still susceptible to environmental contaminants. For example, bird droppings will etch both paint and a filmed surface. Adding a ceramic coating highly mitigates against these environmental factors from damaging a painted or film covered surface. Just my two cents, but I'm also stupid OCD...

PTS = paint to sample. Not PPF.
And not to resurrect a dead thread any more but there are Base Carreras out there with PTS including forum members here. It's not like the financial position of a Carrera buyer is much different than a C4S buyer. They both can afford what they want.
