I've heard that view before, but suggest it might have a lot to do with where the car is being bought/used. In a warm, sunny location a sunroof would tend to be appreciated more than in a colder, northern location or an area that gets a lot of rain. I also suggest that while many buyers like a sunroof, there are also many who don't like the extra weight, the increased chance of squeaks and rattles, additional maintenance and high cost of repair (once a car is out of warranty). Personally, I would never buy another 911 with a sunroof (had a Turbo and a GTS with them); with temperatures where I live ranging from -35 to +35 Celsius, and frost-heaved, pothole-infested roads the norm, both were noisy as h**l at various time throughout the year.
On the 992, I think both styles of sunroof - especially on a car other than black - break up the lines on the roof of the car somewhat when closed and egregiously so when open. As always, it comes down to personal preference. That I can spec my 911 without a sunroof and other things a dealer might believe are good for resale is a HUGE value to me as a buyer. I truly couldn't care less what the next owner might want, and think it's a fool's game trying to guess. FWIW, I've never had any trouble selling any of my cars, with or without options I expect some old-school dealers would say are "must haves." And because I always sell my used rides myself, it's moot that a dealer may offer less on a trade for a car they are never going to get.

I always order my P cars without sunroofs for a variety of reasons. I did want to consider a roof transport system; however; from the configurator
"Note: Roof Transport System is only compatible with Electric Slide/Tilt Sunroof and Electric Slide/Tilt Sunroof in Glass, not available on standard or Carbon Fiber roofs.
So at minimum, a $1500 starting point to add a roof transport system. I decided to go without both.
And had i been able to sit longer at the car show in the 992, i would have done away with memory seats, as I am all the way down, and back, and the only driver...but that's another story. I'll just have to live with the other 25+ things i like, as stated on my "what do you like about the 992" thread

I almost NEVER use the sunroof, honestly Id have specced my car without it but my dealer really hates ordering non GT cars (which obv don't have the option) without sunroof for resale. Carrera T also aside there. This time I just went with the non glass roof given less moving parts than the glass with the retractable shade.

Sunroof vs. Moonroof
I can remember making a wise-a## comment questioning "what is the difference between a sunroof and a moonroof?" It was at that time that a friend informed me of the difference. A sunroof used to denote a solid piece of metal while a moonroof was a piece of glass. Somewhere during the decades since high school the term sunroof became interchangeable with what used to be called a moonroof.

Ummm...most “sun” roofs that have a retractable shade are glass which allows the “sun” to be visible through the glass or not when the sunroof is closed...seems like common sense. The Porsche Options list it as a “sun blind” under the description for the Electric Slide/Tilt Sunroof in Glass.
Conversely...I’ve never seen a sunshade in a vehicle with a solid metal roof...what purpose would it serve?

Isn’t funny that 992 owners talk about the different sun roof options and the 964 guys pay a boat load of money to rid of it and all the excess weight up high. I have a solid roof on my 992 and interior is all black. It gets a bit dark but I don’t miss the sun roof a bit.

All you guys obsessing about the sunroof weights I'm sure are training at 6% body fat or less correct? Reminds me of the weight weenies shaving grams off their roadbikes with titanium ferrules and shifter retaining bolts when their riding jerseys are tighter than sausage casings J/K !!

A nut fell out of a tree and shattered my daughters sunroof in her VW, if not for the sunroof it should have been just another dent in her car. And it cost $1500 to replace. The sunroof in my wife’s old car leaked. They tried to replace it and somehow damaged the car, so the manufacturer had to buy it back from us for $165K. Just some sunroof lessons for you.
