Me too. I don't like the look of a panoramic style glass roof, plus two of our cars have them (a Mercedes and VW) and the shade doesn't stop all the UV. I still get a bit of sunburn on a longish drive even with it closed.

To get a concept of how much weight is saved by not having a sunroof, go tap your knuckle on the roof of a GT3 and listen to the sound it makes.

Can you spec your car without a sunroof?
I didn't see a sunroof delete on the build your own feature.

IMHO, I wouldn’t call that a fair comparison... the GT3 also deletes sound insulation... where a standard 992s including GTS would have insulation with the sunroof delete.

Yes, you can spec any 992 now without a sunroof (metal) or moonroof (aka glass sunroof).

I really love my all metal sunroof... the perfect compromise .. and it's practically dead quiet at lower speed when open...

I don’t have any sunroof on my 992. My 10 yo boy was present when I purchased -
I said : hey, this one doesn’t have a sun roof. (Coupe was always desired ).
he said ad, you don’t need it and it’s a lot of extra weight anyway.
I said : I love you son.
LOL - proud daddy. In the end , do what makes you happy. I certainly can’t feel any weight savings up there. Maybe someone can , not me !

When buying used or building a new 911 do you really need a sun roof?

When you find the 911 that you’ve been looking for does a sun roof matter?

Yeah, but what if it had a sunshade? Might you not love it even more then?

To me, yes. Car could be perfect in all other respects...sunroof (especially glass) would be a deal killer. YMMV.

if they could pull off the exact same design I have but add that, heck ya... bummer they weren't able to... but I wouldn't want the sunshade if it came with a black /dark glass roof on the car.

I also am in the camp that loves the look of the alcantara headliner and would spec it. Solid sunroof keeps alcantara above while allowing open air

I'm so glad I did.. to my eyes the standard material doesn't look nice enough fro that car... I still prefer the black liner on my BMW 540 the best, but that's no available as far as I know.
