Default New Owner Review - Drive, Features & Options

Picked up my C2S after a 7 month wait and endless agonizing on specs and colors. Putting this together to help people who are either considering buying a 992 and choosing options or those who want to see if their ownership experiences are similar! Last Porsche was a 2017 991.2 4S.

First an overview... C2S, Jet Black, Slate Gray full leather, interior package in exterior color, RS Spyder rims, Burmester, panoramic roof, alcantara GT steering wheel and roof lining, sports seats plus, Sportdesign front, back and side, sports exhaust, sport chrono, PASM, park assist, dials in white

Some pics ...

Overall extremely happy but of course, there are some niggles...

First the positives...
- Performance and Handling are incredible. Endless power, handling is miles ahead of 991. Larger real wheel set up makes a big difference. For those considering a 991 GTS instead, this is much more refined and worth the price difference.
- Steering is awesome. Again big leap from 991.2
- PDK - somehow they made this even more like a manual but even faster than the previous generation. You can almost feel the clutch engaging like it would in a manual and you can make it behave like one by varying your foot pressure on the gas pedal. You can lift the RPM slightly without going faster. It's hard to explain but it's f-ing brilliant. It's a work of art.
- Interior finishing - painted black works so well with piano black finish but only if you have a black exterior, otherwise might clash. I find this option in black better than the trim options except maybe carbon fiber?
- PCM much better but there are issues (below)
- Build quality feels much better than the 991
- PASM makes it feel much more agile and balanced and really improves the stance
- Milled switches are stunning and really nice to use
- Burmester worth every penny
- Subtle design cues from the 911 history books... the PCM screen is slightly off center like the stereo was in the 993, the obstructed outer dials in the dashboard like the 964, the hood... etc

I'm sure there's more positives but essentially it exceeds all expectations on the most important thing... how it feels to drive.

Niggles...
- CarPlay display is always shared with parts of the PCM (as opposed to the 991.2 where it was a total screen takeover) which is useful but renders the Apple icons too small to handle in a consistent way especially when you're driving at speed. It's ok not a big deal but could've been done better from a UX perspective.
- The right hand side dials in the dashboard can never be used for navigation because of the steering wheel obstruction. It's pointless and stressful to try. Just keep it on g-force or the info screen.
- It's far too hard to get the car into Individual - you have to cycle through normal, sport and sport+ triggering the sports exhaust etc every time you get in the car. Considering I imagine most people will be in individual all the time it's not thought through properly. You also can't configure the spare rocker to go to individual which is also a lost opportunity
- PCM setup and menus are kinda clumsy - they need to hire someone from Google or Apple to do the UX work on this. There's no need for this much messing around in the 21st century.
- Nubbin isn't that bad - i feel if it were a proper gear stick it would've obstructed the switches behind it so it does serve a functional purpose. After a day you get used to the absence of a stick and move on with life.
- sport+ seats are nice but perhaps the standard would be a better/more comfortable choice long term.

That's all I have for now; shoot me any questions or thoughts!

VERY nicely done. Some others have said Park Assist is not needed. What are your thoughts? I see you got the fire extinguisher. Does it impact passenger legroom or comfort? THX!

Park Assist is useful. It's a big car and the front looks deceptively small from the inside when it's not. I still find myself using my neck to look around to make sure but I find myself turning it on a lot when maneuvering parking lots. I'd say get it unless you live somewhere wide and open (I'm in a city).

As for the extinguisher it's a legal requirement here so I didn't spec it. It does interfere with the passenger leg room so that's something to consider.

Congrats! I've been following yours too (Yellow dials right?)

Yeah I know. It's a niggle not a major issue. But it does feel in this day and age that they could've executed better. The CarPlay thing is really pissing me off though. I don't have big fingers and I still struggle to hit the right icon.

Congratulations on a beautiful car! I'm anxiously waiting on Euro Delivery of my jet black cab later this year, could you post some photos of the car in the sun?

I spec’d the same steering wheel. What do you think of it?

Love it. One issue though ... you don't get the matching leather on the middle part around the crest like you do with the regular wheel. Bummed about that since my interior is grey (would've worked nicely) but it would probably look ugly with other leather colors hence the standard black center.

Any turbo lag in normal setting? How about Sport or Sport Plus?

I don't know about him, but in the 30 or so miles I've driven it, I didn't go over 3000RPM... I felt no lag, but then I hardly asked the engine to do anything yet.

None. Even the turbo sound is quite muted compared to the 991.2
