Article on 992 GT3 - take my money!

I am REALLY hoping they will at least revise the instrument screens to be more sport/track oriented and or ditch the piano black trim but given the long list of disappointments with the 992 thus far I won't be holding my breath...

It's going to be very difficult to take the 992 GT3 seriously as a hardcore sports car when the interior is so focused on nonsense convenience tech and current luxury car style.

Just like the Forrenn, I grabbed a 991.2 GT3 specifically because I expect to skip the entire 992 GT generation, which I don't think will look like a hardcore sports car inside.

Touch screen, illuminated door sills, deviated stitching, 18-way seats, etc. aren't "nonsense convenience tech and current luxury car style"?

It's all relative. It's fairly hardcore compared to its contemporary competitors, but not compared to some of its historical predecessors.

Does anybody take the 991 GT3 "seriously as a hardcore sports car"? Immensely capable, yes. Fantastic drivetrain, either with manual or PDK, yes. Hardcore? Hardly...

CAN YOU DO THIS IN A 992?

No, you cannot do this in the USA (and could not after the first couple months of the 991.2 GT3), because it became government mandated to have a rear-view camera that uses the radio/video screen in the console/dash.

The 996-991 gauge cluster/fascia is hideous. Design layout wise it was an improvement over the 5 ring side by side layout. One tap with a knuckle on the plastic confirms just how cheap it is. Pointing out the obvious- Air cooled instrument rings are metal with 4/5 being glass lenses. I like the 992 layout harkening back to the tried and true. Including some sw obstruction to the outer dials. Will be interesting to see how long Porsche sticks with the new interior. I personally like it. Many understandably do not.
Just opinions, there are no right or wrong answers. I do have an affinity towards the classic air cooled cars, certainly that influences my opinion of the new interior.
