There seems to be a strong assumption by the OP that because one owns a Porsche or a supercar that somehow these must have been miraculously gifted to the owner.

The fact the OP doesn’t seem to understand that the ability to buy these cars is often a function of years of hard work and sacrifice - often leading to the creation of successful companies and careers that have a positive impact on jobs, growth, innovation etc. They are incidental a function of outcomes not the outcome.

The fact the OP can’t see this marks him or her out as a millennial - a group that is largely, ignorant, lazy, self entitled, lacks resilience and doesn’t understand the concept of hard work or service are endeavours that build character and allow one to grow as a person within a broader society. Yes there are outliers but they are few and far between.

Life tip - most women couldn’t give a stuff about the car that you drive. However they could give a stuff about the drive of the person, his EQ, empathy, motivation, intelligence and resilience.

What they assuredly don’t like are whining, carping, badge collecting poseurs without direction or motivation.

Hence successful women will be found with successful men and that success may have many mutual benefits that pass on to the next generation. That successful pairing means a couple may have skill sets that allow the couple and family to grow and prosper. This does not mean the couple need be both corporate raiders, medicos or lawyers - they can equally be home maker and other successful person of any type - the point being the sum is always greater than the parts.

Another thought for the OP the second assumption he or she appears to make is that as a Porsche or supercar owner we probably don’t understand lesser cars and or know nothing about modifications - of course this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Yes, millennials love to snipe and run - most in my experience don’t want a debate and can’t handle one, particularly when a deep knowledge base is required. That’s why they need safe spaces to retreat too.

Doug H - feel your pain - seen the equivalent many, many times - the reason millennials have a poor name in the workforce is because of their behaviours, it’s a reality, sure there are some good ones but they are less common than in other groups.

They lack resilience because they have grown up in a very benign world - they haven’t had to grow in a family directly affected by WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Cold War etc - they have little concept of service or the savagery of the world. They haven’t had to fight for jobs or income they have been gifted healthcare and education due to the service and delivery of others. They are entitled because it’s all been handed to them on a plate and as a consequence many don’t have the resilience to do the hard yards and tough things out.

The best the OP has is 30inch wheels..........

IBTL

OP, you don't know women very well - the superficial kind.

These type of species hate everything and anyone that takes the attention away from their self indulgence, including other women. They are in a constant state of mental battle to be the most well liked and most popular by any short measure like social media likes and followers.

Unfortunately, the pornographic representation of one hot women going nuts for another hot women with both reciprocating like there is no tomorrow are all paid actresses, if you can even call them that.

Agree with all the level headed comments in this thread, and this thread has no place other than Off Topic.

Just thought I'd drop in to see what all the fuss was about. Lot of you been complaining about this thread. As to where it probably belongs would actually be P&C instead of Off Topic. However, if we did that most could not continue to enjoy, since like OT requires a paid membership. Overall Some Intresting comments.
My only input is for Dave H. You are hiring folks that clerked for the wrong Fed Judges. One of my best buds is on the Fed bench here in Dallas. Does not baby them at all and very selective on applications. Up front know they are in for a legal boot camp. Both his son and son in law are first rate practicing attorneys but neither got to clerk for him.
Carry on.

I honestly think the best litigators (not transaction, M&A, tax and other nerd stuff) are guys and girls that went to lesser schools, were middle of the pack grade wise AND that worked full time to put themselves through school. They tend to have more street smarts, common sense and that edge to them needed to be a litigator that is generally lacking in kids going to top tier schools.

I'll share a success story that agrees with you. Great guy met while we were both coaching soccer with our 6 year olds. This was like 24 years ago. Kevin was a CPA, had written a book on accounting that was published and working for a RET. went to like Oklahoma State I think. His dream was to be a lawyer and work for a major NYC firm. So, went to SMU law while doing all that work. A few years later passed the bar and started sending resumes. NO ONE would even give him an interview. Crushed. Stayed in Dallas doing what he knew. Working his rear off. Past few years he is chief counsel and has his name on the masthead of largest real estate developer in USA as #2 overall guy. No Ivy League school or clerking. Just hard work. And, he would have made copies if you asked him.

I believe this is true for many fields. I don’t know the percentages but I’m pretty sure a large majority of Ivy League professional students come from wealthy families. Those who achieve success without mommy and daddies help are way ahead of the game when they get out. Maybe not financially but mentally.

I sweated, faced great fear, literally bled, for everything I own and I apologize to no one for it. I earned my Porsche, the end. Total care over what others think of it = zero. I do love this thread though, laughter has been had and I think I'll miss Goose if they ban him.

I make copies ALL the time and gladly carry others' brief cases (i.e., second or third chair) and play support role. Congrats to your friend.

Hard work and dedication cannot be taught or forced. I remember working 6 months straight without taking a day off during my first year of private practice and hiding in my office when I heard a partner come in the back door around 11 or 12 one Saturday night. I was afraid they would think I was weird. I, however, was always compensated 50 to 70% on a graduating scale of what I billed so I worked as much as possible to make as much as possible.
