Interesting that they increased the horsepower so much, since the increases has been about 20-30 hp per refresh: 523 bhp (997.2) --> 552 bhp (991.1) --> 572 bhp (991.2). This more than offsets the 110 lb weight gain (991.2: 3527 lbs, 992.1: ~3640 lbs?).
After looking at the pics again, the raised wing on the cabriolet looks pretty crazy. And not in a good way. Kind of like they have it raised up to service mode level.
I haven't. I've driven some fast cars, but not a Turbo. What am I missing - is there something materially different than a blindfold (not really) drive in a 0-60 3.0 sec 992 S versus a 0-60 3.0 sec 9xx gen Turbo? All are turbos, curious what the 'different kind of speed' is, not being facetious.
My M5 competition is very fast. It’s roughly equivalent to my previous 991 Turbo in terms of published 0-60. Even then, there is a violence to the Turbo that the M5 doesn’t have.
Not having driven the 992, I can’t say if that same applies. But it may.
It will be amazing for sure.. although also approaching the stratosphere as far as prices go. Not a fan of the spoiler which looks like a skateboard bolted to the back.
cant compare why u want 992 vs turbo s. latter is THE flagship, best of the best "attainable" Porsche.
the one who has a 911 but not a Turbo S will always dream of having one. forget the metrics when it comes to that, although yeah, it matters, too.
I spec'd a 991.2 Turbo S last year, but when the 992 was announced, I decided to wait, because I didn't want to drop that coin on a car at the end of the generation cycle. We all knew that the new generation was coming, but seeing it made it real. After some consternation, I bought a 2020 992 C4S instead and loving it!
Will I ever get that Turbo? Well, the values of the 991 cars are already in free-fall depreciation and press coverage of the forthcoming 992 car won't help that cause. So, maybe a used one? I don't know. Honestly, the 992 C4S is sufficiently quick.
If 0-60 was a very important factor to you, I’d say get a Tesla for $100k less. It also improves over time due to ota updates. Best deal in the 0-60 land.
