Default enough about the obstructed dash already...

911's have been obstructing the outside gauges on the dash since the 1970's...

^Exactly.

Don't know about this new crop of owners.

I don't believe that they didn't knew that the obstruction was going to happen. Look at the new Cayenne dash, 996 overlap. I actually think that there's a hint of "we know it and left leave that on purpose".
They could either move the screens towards each other or overlap like the 996. That overlap is to give "character" to the car, IMO.

I do miss being able to have the temp gauges fixed on view in track days. The current position is disruptive on DE. Easily fixable moving to the left virtual gauge. Even better, a "race" setup for the dashboard, perhaps following sport plus.

Does anybody really need to look at those gauges anyway? I never do.

Haha.

Right.

I just have them in my display.

The tach is most important

John, totally agree with the "race setup" idea. Be great if Sport Display was more feature rich. Another way to hack at this may be to use a mirroring app when streaming some OBD data, like into Harry's or some other track app. And then get it to mirror on the main infotainment screen.

Anyone try this?

My opinion on the "issue" of the dash cluster being obscured. After comparing between the 991 & 992. I probably would not have gotten a 992 if not for how great the interior is. The dash was the first thing I noticed, and the biggest thing I like about it. I actually really enjoy how large it is. Though I didn't have an issue seeing all of gauges in the 992 I drove at the dealer, it was a small sample, and I don't know how it will translate on the road every day.. That being said, I've never been one to use the gauge screen for navigation, that's why they have the large central screen IMO. Even my wife's Range Rover has the ability to put the navi on the dash, but we still use the center screen. Otherwise, why have the massive screen in the center? For music? lol so the new interior earned at least one new customer.

Have an ‘87 G model and a 997.2. End gauges are both obscured. Looking forward to picking up my 992 on Monday and continuing this Porsche tradition!

I just took delivery of mine today. The end gauges are definitely obscured but it's not much of an issue in my opinion. The car is simply fantastic to drive. Now to figure out how to customize all of the screens to my liking.

As I posted elsewhere on this site, I programmed the furthest left gage as a compass, and placed the time and temp in the center screen. While driving, the compass is visible enough to be useful, and the gas gage is just there as something to look at during start-up. I get all my other info from the other displays perfectly.

Agreed, it's stupid that people are whining about this. My GT3 has obscured gauges. I have to actually move my head to see the oil pressure. Go figure.

All 911s are obscured except for the first cars because of thin steering wheel....991 is a bit better than 992 and that must be the gripe...

In the 70's they had no choice, today on a car that is supposedly 100% purposeful and costs an arm, a leg plus a kidney they decide to make abstraction of it. It's no big deal for me, it's just an odd choice.
