You can't really tell which is real vs $2 aliexpress. Happy for 1/20 the price.

Yeah. If you look closely at the badge its pretty clear, but paying 50 for the real one feels kinda stupid.

So how do you cover your license plate while out driving? Ha!

Exciting!!

I'd highly recommend walking the course at least 2x. Sometimes there is an organized novice group walk with someone experienced to guide -- that's the best option, so ask at the tent when you grab your wristband if anyone is organizing one.

You should also take an instructor for at least your first few runs, until you feel comfortable completing the course at a pace that feels quick to you without DNFing (missing a gate entirely). Consider asking them to talk you through the course; some people don't like being yakked at constantly while driving, but as long as you don't mind, it can help learn a course quickly.

Take it easy in the morning set too; one of the best parts about the Peachstate PCA events is you'll get 10 runs in a day, which is a great amount of seat time compared to most autocross events; no need to rush it in the first half of runs. Once you've got the course down, try to look ahead at least a couple of gates and think about how you're connecting a sequence of them together rather than just taking it one gate at a time.

Because there are so many runs, folks usually don't mind giving a ride along or two. I'm not sure how much spirited driving experience you've got, but a ride along with a fast driver can be eye opening to help people who are new to this understand just how capable these cars are.

Bring sunscreen and a hat!! These dead-of-summer events can be brutal. And last, but most important... have fun! I'm sure I'll run into you in the next few months if you make it back out.

I used to think covering plates was stupid but last summer security ran plates on everyone parked in the physicians parking and told everyone parked illegally to move their car. Pretty sure hospital security can't do that so they got a cop to do it or something. Seems like a privacy violation but I just cover my plates when posting now because you never know.

Why wouldn't hospital security be able to scan the license plates of cars parked on hospital property and cross reference them against the hospital's registered physicians' cars to decide who should get a ticket/nastygram? And, how does this relate to your license plate being visible on the internet?

You think security has access to DMV registration? No. And not everyone registers their car to the hospital. It matters because some random person can run your plates and doxx you.

They don't cross reference the DMV... have you ever worked at a large facility? You register your car to park there. They have a list of employees and registered plates. They would cross reference that list. Both my cars and plates are registered for my complex and we still have to use a parking tag.

As far as doxxing...What they are going to do? Post online you have a 911 and your address? Is Nick Cage going to then come boost your car?

This can literally happen anywhere at anytime.

Wait until you hear about what they can do with a picture of your face.....

Agree, I always laugh when I see people blur out their plates in car pics online-- I always think, 'hmm, um, you do know that when you're driving your car, people can see your plate, right?' So what's the purpose of hiding it in a pic? Silliness.

[QUOTE=Crusje;19578212]You think security has access to DMV registration? QUOTE]

Yes. DMV registration and license plate numbers are public records. Anyone can access DMV records who is willing to pay the fee for use of the access system (usually to a third party vendor such as Lexus/Nexus, Accurint, etc.). Anyone who sees your license plate number can identify the registered owner and address through the license plate number……..just a question of what is the cost and time. The reason to mask your license plate number on the internet is to not associate the registered owner and address shown in the public records to the identity of “Crusje” which is not a public record…..although law enforcement or an attorney can get that information too. Again, just a question of how much time and cost.
