I tried installing the rear Hawk pads, but they were tight and I didn't like that. Didn't try the fronts however. If someone else wants to give it a shot PM me, I put them in the classified as well. Basically new, open to reasonable offers, thanks. Going to pass on the install.

Uhm, brake pads are "too tight" for your liking? What does that even mean?

(I am having hawks installed front and rear as we speak)

Too tight, for my liking, placing the hawk pad into the caliper during installation versus the oe pad.

I read that but still have no idea what that means “too tight”…they either fit or don’t fit?

Did you push pistons in before installing the new pad? The old pad was worn so the calipers were in a position based on pad wear.

There is too much pressure on the brake pad clips, nothing to do with the pistons.

I just had my shop install Hawks Ceramic on all four corners w/o problems. I am now looking to find out how much it really reduces brake dust.

will report back after a week or two. My shop owner installed the same on his 991.2 and recommended it to me. He says, of course, it’s not going away but measurable less.

I still can’t understand that previous poster who has very minimal or little dust. Maybe he runs ceramic pads and is not aware of it?

I've run Hawk ceramic pads on my steel rotors for the better part of a year now and love em! Much less dust and still great for hard street and hwy use.

no, these are part number for base. Front is different for S and Hinz Motorsport posted all part numbers earlier ….and has great prices selling them too.

There was a post on the Spyder forum that went on for many pages about reducing cabin noise by removing the sound tube that connects the engine bay to the cockpit through the firewall. At least a dozen people removed it and all reported “50% reduction in noise” or “night and day difference “. Then someone measured it with a decibel meter before and after and found zero difference. Then everyone did a Rosanne Rosannadanna “ Never mind.” The placebo effect is strong. Very few people will publicly admit that their efforts and/or expenditures have had no positive benefits.

Similarly, the only way to do a brake dust test would be to have two otherwise identical cars but with different pads and drive them on the same course. Even then, it would be very difficult to ensure that the brakes are applied the same in both cars.

If some aftermarket pads do actually reduce dust, it has to be at the expense of something. Either stopping distance will increase or the rotors will wear out faster, or more heat will be generated. It’s physically impossible for the change to net only positive results. The most likely scenario will be that stopping distance, heat generation, and wear will all worsen and dust will with be exactly the same or insignificantly better.
