I have ordered a new 992 and spend some time in the configurator. The option tinted windows. Is that same as aftermarket tinted or is it a different window that is tinted from factory?

This is Europe but probably is the option the same as in US.

No tinted option in US as of now..

If it’s the same as previous models and you mean the rear tinted windows / privacy glass, then it’s actual tinted glass.

Yes and the glass sunroof would blend a lot better. Not to mention the rear grille cover.

I was watching "Road to Le Mans" and noticed one of their 992's had tinted rear and back side windows. When I was on the German configurator and there is a privacy glass option. Any idea on how much tint it is? Seems to be quite dark. Was thinking of doing something similar with film on my US spec 992 and wonder how much to tint. Thanks

Almost all factory privacy glass is ~20% but it’s dyed glass.

Thanks for the feedback. I would have preferred dyed glass but will have to go with film in the US.

Pennsylvania only allows minimum of 70% tinting in all passenger car windows. Does not seem worth it to tint the back three windows. Interestingly, trucks and SUV’s have no limits for rear and back side windows. Not sure of this logic, but we still have state run liquor stores.
