(not fed up enough yet because I love the 4.0)

Agreed - this is a painful thread.

Not as painful as Porsche not offering the top sound system in a great car.

If you don't like it- then don't read it.

I can't believe how many people are devastated by this thread. Dude wants a better sound system in his car. Blasphemy? You could all lose 20-30 pounds yourselves..

I am thinking that maybe is related to price or pay fees to Burmester that they dont want to pay, probably there is a very high one-time payment to Burmester per "line or variant of vehicles" because to cover let say "the calibration" of the audio and the "tunning" so probably if its a super high price to pay if you have a good amount of vehicle sold then there is no problem because this fee gives divided, probably for the "GT" cars they need to pay this calibration/tune fee and they are just saving it, lol.

I just want them to give the customers a choice. It used to be that Sound Package Plus was all you could get on a GT3. I thought it was garbage; they needed to offer more than that.

And that could be...to date I've never gotten a good explanation from anyone. Some say Burm is lighter, some say Bose is lighter. I have no idea. Some say it's more complicated wiring for the Burm...again, I have no hard evidence.

But if they can put it into a 718 Spyder - then they can put it in a GT3.

Acoustics in GT3 are very different. Don't think Burm wants their name on something sub par or wants to try and calibrate to a car that lacks sound insulation if I had to guess.

I didnt even spec Bose on mine... felt wrong

While I agree with you that is not a blasphemy to have a good audio system in a GT3, actually it NEVER hurts to have a HiFi system on any vehicle as an option at least, just have a look at Aston Martin they take time and effort to tune the best exhaust system and best engine sound they can out of their powertrain design and still they also fine tune their HiFi audio systems. Why? because while cruising either to pickup groceries or cruising in the autobahn to your local track day who doesnt want to enjoy some HiFi soundtrack on the way... or listen to your favorite podcast while doing hardcore track day STIG style, lol.

Anyway, my theory is that probably the calibration/tune fee from Burm is huge for the low volume of "GT" cars, so Porsche decided that is not worth the price. I doubt is about wiring or weight or sound dampening issues with the "GT" models.
Lets wait to see what happens with the 992 GT3, at least you should have the Bose option ... just get two Porsches one with Bose system and a daily driver with Burmester.

I think radio delete is a more viable option than Burm in a GT3.

I think if you heard the Musicar Stage 3 or 3+ upgrade, you may change your mind. Hearing is believing.

I don't think it's not offered due to fees or inability to fine tune the GT cars' acoustics. I think the decision makers at Porsche don't feel that high end stereo is necessary in a track focused vehicle that is street legal. These cars were never intended to be daily drivers or the garage queens or "investments" they've become.

Yes, but the Musicar guys do a thorough upgrade of the electronics as well as the acoustic environment (added sound dampening throughout door panels and other areas). Just adding Burmester option to a GT3 does not achieve that sort of result.

Good point on that, perhaps the lack of sound deadening causes a problem with the Burm. In that case, I don't understand why it would be offered in the 718 Spyder...
