While we're complaining to Porsche-Burmester availability
The NUBBIN, the cupholders, the automatic useless door handles, the advent of digital gauges...the rear brake light...I've got ONE MORE biggie here to discuss:
Dear Porsche,
Please make Burmester sound system available to ALL Porsche models. This includes GT3, GT3RS...and I've also observed it isn't available in the 718 Spyder but it is in the GT4? Not sure the reason for this.
With the previous GT3s, you couldn't even get the Bose system. Now, we've been "blessed" with the Bose option in GT3 models...but no nuclear Burmester...look, I don't care if it even adds a little weight, let's get the best sound system in these cars that we can. The newer 555 W Bose is decent, it really is, but I'd be ticking a Burmester box every time.
Thank you,
Concerned Porsche owner

Can't possibly disagree more with this.
The sound acoustics in a GT3/RS would essentially nullify the benefits on the Burmester system, leaving you with just added weight.

And anyway, they used to say this about the Bose offering in the GT3...the benefits wouldn't be noticed, etc. Then they finally offered it. Do the same with the Burmester, let the customers decide. Dollars to donuts they'd be ordering it.

I went aftermarket for my GT3T. I have the Musicar Stage III and will soon have the Stage III+. Head and shoulders better than the Burmester (which I have on my GTS), and I really, really like the Burmester in my GTS. The Musicar must be heard to be appreciated. And Chance6, I agree with you. I would have spec'd my Touring with the Burmester if it had been an option, to hell with weight gain. But I am glad that it was not available because I ended up getting a far superior system (but it did not come cheap).

Considering that most GT3's don't see a track, and often just sit in their owners garages (like my neighbor), It doesn't surprise me that people want high end sound. Having said that, each to their own.

++ on Bur. They can also add the glass sunroof option while they're at it. All these thing add some minor weight, but what the hell, some are interested, are prepared to throw $ at it, and are not timing their laps. For me, nothing wrong with a smidge of brougham to go with your GT3 Touring.

It's not about the stereo. What the OP is actually saying is that they want their engine of choice in their car of choice. If they could order a Carrera with a 4.0L NA engine, they would presumably do that instead, and spec a Burmester along with it.
What makes no sense is Porsche leaving money on the table by forcing those who want the best engine to make all kinds of unrelated compromises that many customers find unacceptable. But, hey, the 911 is a "World Car," right? If the Chinese can't order it, neither can you and I.

The Burmester is heads and tails above the Bose in every respect...and to me it would be an even better experience to have the best sound system available paired with one of the best engines (and setups) available.
I don't understand why Porsche wouldn't offer it...just like I didn't understand why they didn't offer the Bose in the GT3 back in the day. They eventually did. What's the hold-up?
