My build locks at the end of June, and I'm trying to figure out if I want the Light Design Package or not. The configurator wasn't very specific, so I would like to ask people who already received theirs:
- what exactly do you get besides the footwell and the door pocket lights?
- do you like it on the 992?
- If you didn't get it, do you find it difficult to drive at night without it?
I was in the same boat while speccing my 991 3RS. It it gets a bad reputation around here but I vote its a must have at $600. For the 991 you get a dimmable soft blue/white ambient glow from the overhead panel, door wells, foot wells, rear armrest area, possibly more areas - I forgot exactly where but it looks great. Probably similar on 992 but Im not sure. It adds a nice, well, ambience on night drives. Bright enough for city drives but adjustable or defeatable for dark drives.
I would regret it if I hadnt specd it. Get it.

I specced it on my Cabriolet and its some gentle leds in the footwells, door bins and in the rear.
No colour changing options, only dimmable and doesnt really add any ambiance or wow factor as theres no design to the light.
i only got it as its a Cabriolet and my young son may find it very dark in the back but I wouldnt bother again.
Ditto. I also have a 992 Cab and nothing like my wifes new Cayenne S where you can choose LED colours etc.
Total waste of time, I should have learned my lesson with my previous 991.2.
Problem is we dont know what it would be like without ambient lighting hence ticking the box out of fear.
I like it. As others have noted, it creates some ambiance in the interior and makes it easy to locate things in the interior without being so bright to ruin your night vision.
Unless they changed it dramatically in the 992 it is probably one of the worst options for the money. I only got since it was part of a package and if I had bought it as a stand-alone option I would still be kicking myself. And I could afford it, but I hate to waste money.
+1 - sat in one with and without.. probably one of those options you wouldnt kick yourself for not checking the box. But it has a premium look to it..
