They may or may not play off one another in making parking maneuvers easier, but RAS is amazing, and enhances the driving experience at all speeds.

RAS works when turning the car at speed.

PSP works when maneuvering the car at low speed.

RAS works at low speed as well. At up to 50kph, RAS turns the rear wheels in the opposite direction of the front. At over 80kmh, it turns them in the same direction.

Having owned a 991.2 C4S without PSP or RAS, I test drove a 992 C2S with RAS and no PSP and will definitely be speccing RAS in my new build. The driving experience is so different as to warrant this an essential purchase for me.

Yes, I know that.

When I said "low speed" I mean parking lot speed, which is where RAS will not be noticeable.

RAS is VERY noticeable at parking lot speeds. It knocks U-turn radius by like a factor of 1.3 or something crazy.

I've read so many pages of PSP and still don't understand - Porsche's official description is also vague. Can someone please help clarify the following in engineering terms?:

1) Does PSP change the force or torque required to turn the steering wheel? (People keep saying 'effort' but effort can mean force, turn angle, etc. - it is a subjective word).
2) Does PSP change the turning ratio at lower speeds and higher speeds? Meaning the ratio between the change in angle of the steering wheel to the tires?

Which one is it?

It's the first. With PSP the steering assistance at lower vehicle speeds is higher thus the required effort /force is reduced. Steering ratio is not effected by PSP.

The short of it is - It is chump change to option, so why not? It’s less than a case of table wine.

It may have already been said, but if you don’t like the feel, it can be a easily turned off at your dealership. It’s a software thingy.

PSP is for the very elderly, very frail, and for very small and weak people. I'm 76, 6'1" 151 lbs, and I'm not buying it!
And it will cost
you money for the service shop to deprogram it 👀
Unless you are 95+ or weigh less than around 90 lbs, FUGGETABOUTIT!! You don't want or need it.

As someone who owns a car with manual steering, I crack up at the folks who suggest that there is some kind of macho power steering. If there was such a thing, rest assured, it’s not EPAS.

That might explain why I got it. I’m 108 yo and only 70 lbs, soaking wet. 👍

As for de-programming, before I optioned it on my build, I asked the SA if I didn’t like, how much to turn off? I was told, “no charge”…so may depend on your dealership?

You sound like a very confident expert on PSP. Ever had it or used it?

My last Porsche was a 1987 Carrera 3.2, no power steering, which required noticeable muscle to park, and about which the wife complained.
We've ordered our 992 with Power Steering Plus because, frankly, I don't feel like wrestling with the car when trying to parallel park.

Per post #40, have you gotten your AARP card yet?

At 108 yo, I find the PSP+ very helpful. Now, if I could only remember where I put my car keys and walker? 🥸
