Are you opting for roof lining in Alcantara?

1) There are other things that are higher on priority list. You could easily end up specifying everything. for instance I would choose burmester before I would choose alcantara, and I didn't order burmester either.
2) I feel like if you are going to get alcantara, then you should also get alcantara sun visors. The combination of the two is around $2000.
3) Adding too many options to the carrera models just results in increased depreciation. We would all be better off if they raised the price and raised the content because the depreciation wouldn't be exaggerated by content selection. So the economics don't favor getting too many options. At some level if you want more options, you should just buy a GTS or a Turbo S. At some point I will upgrade to a 992 Turbo S and then I will get the alcantara included at no additional cost.

I deleted it from my GTS build (seats, other interior bits) and went with leather instead. Alcantara in the GT3 was one reason why I went with the GT3T instead (it has leather instead of alcantara). I, for one, would never pay to have Alcantara in any of my cars. I'd much rather have the free, non-Alcantara option. Just the fact that they are now charging for something that used to be included is a) not surprising and b) totally annoying. Save your money.

Problem solved today ... my 992 is due to go into production end of October (ordered it already in April) and today I adjusted my order and added the leather sun-visors. At an additional cost of course but I think it will add a nice touch.

Porsche 911 determined to be the most profitable car at almost a 50% margin by Autocar. Porsche are the option kings and other manufacturers are starting to follow by charging for things that should come standard for sure........

Can someone post a pic of the alcantara headliner please?

Alcantara is one of my least favorite materials to see in cars. Didn’t have it in the 992 but I wouldn’t select that option anyways. Does anybody ever wonder why they don’t offer leather headliner option? That’d be the one I am willing to spend money on.

Sorry, but I can’t get the picture out of my mind about the oversized micro suede furniture I saw at a discount appliance store. I don’t want it in my home or car, and didn’t like seeing it in my 991. To each their own.

Alcantara is no longer an option, right? I ordered mine with a Race-Tex roof liner to dress things up.
As far as Porche’s approach to options...more power to them. No one makes us get them and we know up front what they cost. I have no interior options with my Cayenne, except what results from Sports Chrono and Bose. The standard interior is excellent, commensurate with other luxury cars, maybe better, possible exception being the visors. I haven’t seen an un-optioned 992 but I’d bet it’s nice enough. Yet I have $33,000 in options in my pending 992 a sizable portion of which is for the interior. I not only want differentiation from the Cayenne, it’s a 911. As expensive as they are I see the value of customization in a 911.

I would note I had alcantara headliner in my 991.2, in navy, and loved it, skipped it in my 992 (black interior) and haven’t really missed it. It’s not like the standard headliner material is of low quality.

No, I dislike alcantara. Hate it as a steering wheel cover. Maybe its my hands?
