Default Midnight Blue ?

Hello form France

Have you ever seen a 992 in Midnight Blue ?
I have decided to order one instead of GT Silver or Agate Grey and i have never seen a photo from such a color.

It's a very nice color when clean and shiny. But for me, like black, its a bit too much maintenance and bit too subdued.

Firstly, I’m not sure where people get the name Midnight Blue. Every time I read that I second guess my car’s colour name ! I just took delivery of a 991.2 “Night Blue Metallic” Targa. The colour looks very dark (almost black in low light conditions) and brilliant in high light conditions due to it being a metallic colour. It’s a rich and more subtle colour compared to the beautiful “look at me” colours such as red, orange and lizard green, to name a few. Unfortunately, after delivery, we’ve had winter like conditions so no pics of the what the sun does to make the paint sparkle.

Delivery day !

After ceramic coating

Darker rainy day (prior to delivery day)

My previous Turbo S was night blue metallic. In bright sunshine, it looked spectacular, like a brilliant star-filled sky, and very classy. Unfortunately, otherwise, it looked like just another really dark color. I echo the sentiment that it's too dark.

Midnight blue was the dark blue from the 997 era. I suspect that's where it's coming from. It was a little lighter than night blue metallic.

I used to own a Night blue metallic Turbo. Pretty color when clean - lots of compliments. I did end up regretting the choice and wishing I had just gone all the way with black.

DBM and NBM are great colors, but PTS Meer Blau is Porsche’s true midnight blue. Epic color.

that would be my concern... I like the color but its just not enough blue or not enough black to me... but some people love the ambiguity of it.

Yeah. Sounds crazy, but it was one of the reasons I sold the car.

Don’t mind me. I changed from black at the last second which was my mistake for being impulsive. For what it’s worth people who saw the car always commented on how they loved the color.

I believe in this new color even it's quite difficult to find an example :

https://www.autogespot.fr/porsche-99...-4s/2019/03/12 : Midnight Blue ?
https://www.autogespot.fr/porsche-99...-4s/2018/10/18 : Midnight Blue ?
https://www.autogespot.fr/porsche-99...s-1/2019/04/07 : Black Metallic or Midnight Blue ?
https://www.autogespot.fr/porsche-99...s-2/2019/03/23 : Black Metallic or Midnight Blue ?

I will send you some photos of my new 911 by the end of may.

The choice's color has also been driven by the fact that i already have :
  • 991.1 in Agate Grey
  • 991.1 GTS in Black Metallic
  • 991.2 in Gt Silver

    GT Silver 991.2 C4S

    GTS 991.1 Cab C4S GTS

    991.1 C4S Agate Gey

So it's high time for a new choice

Hello jralonso,

I like your spec..

Can you tell me why you ordered the nose lift ? Do you have any experience with a nose lift option on a previous car ? If yes, is it a tool you use every day or only that one time when you want to enter a very sloping space ?

Thank you !
