Default Anyone heard about 48v mild hybrid in 992?

I know the full on PHEV will be in 992.2 but my friend told me that Porsche may use MHEV (48v) in 992.1 gen... which is the path where VW is taking its cars to.

Anyone heard anything simillar to this?

Given the technological success of the 918, the race proven dominance of the 919 and the take rate on the new Panamera Turbo Hybrid, it makes sense that the technology will migrate to the high performance market. Porsche did the same, historically, with technology innovations ranging from the synchromesh transmission to turbos and dual clutch transmissions in race and street cars. Innovation is in the Porsche DNA.

Given the level of puke already achieved with the 992, it makes perfect sense to go full puke and make it electric, too. Hopefully the 992.2 will reach the pinnacle of "innovation" and be fully self-driving, so we can all log off Rennlist and go **** ourselves.

Before the plug-in hybrid comes into focus, Porsche will first update the 3.0-liter boxer with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Mated to the EA9A2 engine, the system reportedly contributes with 20 horsepower and 52 pound-feet of torque.

If there's a 48V system, that paves the way for e-turbos. Say bye-bye to turbo lag.

The 48v system was mentioned in the earlier rumor articles but the more recent ones state the main differences are injection system, headers and intercoolers.
