Hate the 992??! OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD # Ultimate bashing allowed. Step in the ring.

I also think the pedestal piece and surrounding trough the nubbin pokes up from is over-styled past the point of any shred of function just like the rest of that console.
The center console for me is the single most unforgivable aspect of the 992 interior. It does not work with the dashboards " horizontal" layout. It should have been completely disconnected, lower and much much smaller. Or in other words, MORE like the 930 that they supposedly found so much inspiration in.
This Porsche trend towards high and wide transmission tunnel type consoles does nothing for separating the car from it's boring conventional engine layout competition or making it feel as special as it should be.
Porsche spends so much effort highlighting the "athleticism" of the rear engine layout in the exterior design that it baffles me how they would miss such an opportunity to feature it inside the car as well.

You can tell the interior seems very cheap and plasticky. You can tell there were some budget constraints and cost cutting involved. You can see it in the steering wheel, the optional cosmetic trim options, door panels, center console, and even like having to pay for Alcantara headliner. Also delegating a bunch of functions to multi-step PCM functions.
They can tell and explain all they want, but design wise a MISS on many levels.
Even here on ONE example on the exterior. The hard lines here just stick out and distract rather than flow well.

Great points STG
We should all vote with our wallets for the 992.
I am surprised that Porsche doesn't get true hardcore 911 enthusiasts on board as advisers/hires to discuss design elements.

That’s a design cue that‘s also found on the interior. Horizontal dash “shelf” and perpendicular vertical console inside; horizontal light bar and perpendicular vertical element composed of rear glass + grille outside. Like a T inside and an inverted T outside.

They don't need to. Look at all the other threads where people are fawning over how great the new car is. Of course you and I and others know they should know better, but the reality is there are very many buyers who don't care about these bad design choices because "it's more modern" and "it runs faster than the older car".

Never mind the " wait till you see it in person "crowd, this car becomes more ugly with every new picture I see.
Does anyone else realize that half of the front bumper is black plastic? That big mouth, multi layered, multi angle, center scoop to nowhere, bug shovel looking insert has to be one of the ugliest, cheapest looking front ends ever put on a Porsche.
I feel awful for the poor souls that will burn entire Saturdays washing all the bug splatter out of that thing. It looks absolutely horrible in these latest pics taken at the Chicago auto show courtesy of Rennolazine. and coupled with those stupid ugly eye ***** for the nanny systems it looks like one of those sentinels from the Matrix.
I also just noticed for the first time that there is a black plastic horizontal protruding "lip" that runs the entire length of the front bumper connecting the turn signal lamps as some kind of cheap plastic attempt to mimic the rear light bar. The light bar was a mistake the first time even on the rear where it belongs so adding a useless black plastic version to the front is just so........ 992?

Good catch ... Wow. Never saw that plastic lip. Must help with insurance so front paint doesn't get scratched or bumper cracked. Or for owners for cosmetic reasons with parked cars, etc. Seems very juvenile.
Yeah, I agree too much plastic and very layered. Will be a nightmare to clean.
Mirrors have the same thing going on:
Then we have this:
thanks for the pics >> rennolazine
Side view of the car doesn't look bad except the handles and mirrors. Kinda like a good selfie until you see her in person
Wheels and PCCB's look nice with this color.

I do like those wheels and the profile of the car. The rest not so much. Someone should come up with an aftermarket rear bumper and rear deck lid for these cars that cleans it all up.

I think Porsche may have a little ‘moment’, much like apple with the recent iPhones. They’ll weather it and adapt. But the 992 has more holes on it than Swiss cheese. And the Chinese don’t buy 911s.

This should have been so much better. As a 991.2 owner I'm very underwhelmed by the new car. I keep saying the 992.2 is the one to get, hopefully that or the GT/TT variants are groundbreaking.
