Nice work, thank you!

The red vertical strip above the eyes on the helmet is exactly how I view the third brake light as well because it jumps out THAT much to me for being so ridiculously huge.

Over MSRP for a PDK GT3 with more than 2,000 miles.

Riiiiight.. What's this dealer smoking.

But I agree with your point. As .2 GT3's come down in price....a loaded up Carrera looks less appealing. Although they ARE pretty different.

Once the early adopters wave has passed I think the 992 will be a hard sell due to pricing of even moderately optioned cars. These are going to be lease cars like all the other luxury cars on the market.

captainkirk 02-06-2019 03:49 PM

With the higher price, Porsche definitely wants you to Lease their cars. BMW went that way long time ago.

Any real car guy/gal will laugh at the nubbin, and if there was Steve Jobs for Car Design - he would laugh his butt off on how ugly the third brake light is. It should be aligned with the other bars and even dark black light cover would have worked. Heck with leds, you can make it thin as the bars...come on. It looks like glowing test tubes stuck on the back.

I am keeping my venting to only this thread.

These issues are preventing for me to like this car, now if the ducktail was out, - maybe but nubbin is annoying. Manual is the way to go but Turbo models will not have manual.

I doubt this model will sell as much, I know from other threads, that this is a home run but I honestly do not think so, too many simple design issues.

Drive absolutely gets better, but spending triple figure amounts - I want the whole package, the design and mechanics to be in sync.

FUGLY POS. I'll certainly never buy one. Porsche has relegated the 911 to that of an unsightly transportation "appliance."

You still have fake exhaust tips and back to the horrible future door handles
better a 991

Come on guys all this ugliness will be forgotten as soon as the 4,200lbs plug-in hybrid 992.2 is released :roflmao:

I went on the Porsche site and tried to option a 992 identical to the 991.2 that I collected in Atlanta this month.

A few things stand out, the C4S base price increase, the removal of RAS from the Sport Package, no manual transmission (at this time) and a fabric (no Alcantara) head liner.

Had I waited for the 992, instead of my 991.2 five month wait, the 992 would have easily been over a year.

The price is the kicker, at least $10k more for the 992, won't discount the improvements/advancements but that higher price is substantial.

captainkirk 02-07-2019 10:43 AM

The price high is to recover the money for the VW dieselgate (pretty much this is it) and the new cup holder, 3rd brake light, nubbin, unnecessary door handle mechanics (another thing which will break/damaged), fake exhaust tips.

They even cheapened the drive mode selector from the 991.2. I do like the lettering and the red boost button. The new one looks cheaper than the 991.2

The price hike for the these models is absolute turn off. The depreciation curve is going to be high for these models, hence my theory that they want drivers to lease the car now.

You are trying to make the blanket statement that the price of something is the same as the cost. They are not equal.

The cost difference is 10k. Not the price.

Price = cost + value

Value is subjective, and different for each individual.

He's correct. The PRICE of the new car is MORE.

MSRP > Manufacturer's Suggest Retail Price

Go to your favorite restaurant tonight, the menu will have asking prices in it, not "costs". It may personally cost you $100 for dinner tonight, but the price of the meal is still $100.

The new 992 is definitely priced higher.

Porsche went too retro on 992.1. Frankly, I find all generations before 991.2 to be unattractive and frankly ridiculous looking. 992 could have been great except Porsche made the default car very unappealing. You need to drop a lot of money to make it look it supposed to look.

The front intake and rear mirror are very boring. Almost certain one will need to drop 5k on sports design package.

The shaver shifter will most certainly be replaced with some sort of "sport" shifting option as well, which everyone will opt.

They jacked up the price this year by almost 10% and expect you to pay additional 10% on "necessary options"

To me, that's just highway robbery.
