This is the worst update since 996. Porsche have outdone themselves.

I agree that both the front plastic lip and the rear are poorly designed. However, buying the "Sport Design Package" solves this and turns it into a beautiful 911, in my humble opinion. Here's the proof:

What's with the bumperettes on the front with SD bumper?
Attachment 1300319 Overall, just some cosmetic differences which they'll gladly charge you more $$ more. Look better? Sure. Transform the car?? Absolutely not. Attachment 1300320 Attachment 1300321 |

It's a modest at best improvement, and one that most people wouldn't even notice. Hopefully the sarcasm in my last post was evident. I really don't know where some people come up with this nonsense. |

Attachment 1300320 Attachment 1300321 The SD front bumper helps to some degree. The rear bumper, on the other hand, actually looks worse to me. Those silly tacked on painted side pieces and raised recess for the licence plate just furthers the already disjointed design. |
992 = Modern day German equivalent of a Hotpoint "transportation appliance." I don't excited about a refrigerator on wheels. Glad I bought my 991 GT3's when I did.

The SD rear end treatment, on the other hand, is just another example from the "I better change something or they'll fire me for slacking" school of design. |

Exactly. I've lost the ability to recognize sarcasm in posts like Alfa40's and Bobby 911's. There's a modest improvement at the front end with the SD package, certainly not "transformative" but it does break up the vast dark maw.

Pretty surprising and concerning.

Saw a yellow 992 at DRT in Miami last Sunday. Hips are nice, overall shape clearly 911; however, front and rear clip black plastic even worse than photos. The front shut lines are awkward and worse than in photos. To be fair black plastic rear clip on 2 RS equally off putting at more than double the price. Interior locked, just as well. Rear is confused, delete the branding strip and clean up the 3rd brake light and it would look muscular yet uncluttered. |

Couldn’t really see interior details, impression was that dash has a lot more mass than previous 911s. I think the car has potential, but too many goals were sought, and too many people were involved with the design and the result is that pieces don’t fit even though the details may have been given a lot of consideration. No one stood back at the end result and asked if this actually works. |
