Those darn Democrats who for the last two years controlled zero branches of govt. All their fault.

I guess history has a way of repeating itself. We were due for some design aesthetics that will be forum joke material for the next 20 years.

I am really curious to see the reception to the 992 as they hit dealers and hit the streets. I saw the 992 in person again at PEC LA, more than a couple weeks after seeing it initially at the LA Auto Show. Wanted to give it some time and I can't believe I'm saying this but I like the car less and less the more I see it. Wish I had something productive or helpful to say... lol.
Kind of a bummer honestly but I am hoping Porsche can redeem themselves either with the what will likely be IMPOSSIBLE to get 992 GT cars, since the 992 Carreras seem to be mini Pannys, or maybe they learn their lesson with 992.2 (not likely I'm sure)

I am just not clear where this new 911 is aiming at. If you want a sports car, then the 992 is definitely less sporty and more blingy. If you want a tech car, well, the 992 isn't it. If you want that classic 911 look, again, the 992 isn't it.
I am in the market for a nice piece of automotive engineering for my 40th birthday. It was going to be a paint to sample turbo S. Now it looks like its either going to be a 991 Turbo S (if I want to save money and get a sports car) or a Tesla Roadster (if I want something fast, new, good looking, and electric..as long as its fun to drive).
I just dont like this dilution of the 911. If you want to make a fast motor car, make that. If you want to make an electric/tech/luxury car, make that. Why take a fast motor car and put it in the body of an electric/tech/luxury car..then its neither. Which is the 992, in my opinion.
And if porsche is heading in this direction, I don't want to spend my hard earned money in the brand. I'd rather know what I am getting from a company proud of its cars, not a company that is altering the direction of its product lines.

Drifting
Agreed. From a design perspective (both interior and exterior), to my eye, the 992 is a vehicle searching for an identity. As I have said in previous posts, the 911 has hit puberty. The 913 would have been a better model number. I am sure it will post faster lap times than its predecessor but speed and handling alone do not make a car a great sports car.

FINALLY a real side by side pic! Any more angles of these two?
I think the rear is the strongest angle of the 992 when judging against the 991. It looks a liittle tidier and slicker, but at the same time more awkward. Hard to place how I feel about it next to the 991. I REALLY dislike the 991.2 taillights with that odd "arrow cut" on the inner corners, as it just looks fussy and pointlessly clunky to me (especially next to the streamlined 992 tails), but otherwise the 991 rear holds its own quite well. The side view is essentially identical between the two, so the "better/worse" factor there is essentially negligible (I love the 991 greenhouse and currently like it more than the slightly narrower 992 greenhouse as I just find the formers perfectly proportioned and authentic 911, but even that is small beans in the grand scheme). The front I think is where the 991 looks strongest next to the 992.
One thing I'm really bummed about re: 992 rear, is how they've made the rear window larger and more generically "square" shaped. It doesn't have that tight and dramatic "tapered cut" towards the bottom which is a 911 trademark. Obviously Porsche sacrificed that in order to have the glass flow right into the engine vents. That part is a very big downgrade out back on the 992 imo.

Three Wheelin'
Well, from those two pics (Rocket_boy), it looks like the 992 will be less maintenance.
