Default 992 Turbo Allocation (Non-S) Offered today

I shockingly was offered a Turbo allocation today, with some requirement for PPF + Ceramic. However I would by default need to give up my Touring when the car arrives ~ September/October. My mind immediately went to value. I had been pushing at a different dealer for a TTS allocation to no avail. Just got into the Touring literally less than a month ago, 1000 miles and is pristine. Totally loving the car. It has zero faults and love firing it up. What a blast to drive!

I think it is probably an obvious statement that a Touring will hold value far better than a Turbo will going forward.

When I think about this, a base Turbo probably will depreciate like a rock given that the 992.2 is around the corner. Turbo is a great car but money-wise this doesn't seem, umm, wise. Not being a Turbo S may hurt its value even more.

Over 10+ years...the depreciated price gap between and turbo and turbo s narrows.

As for the introduction of the 992.2...I expect the usual trend to follow. Whether people do or don't want hybrid and an anolog tach is a debate for the minority.

On a positive note, i anticipate 992.2 prices will jacked up...so may help to hold some of the value in 992.1

I realize Turbo allocations are hard to come by, but I don’t think rarity is to be confused with desirability in this instance.

I’ve only driven a Turbo S, but is a Turbo really that much greater than my GTS?

You already have the more desirable car that isn’t going to follow a drastic depreciation curve.

A Turbo is a helluva lot faster than a GTS. As fast as a 991.2 TTS and that car was blistering. BUT...not quite as nimble as a RWD GTS and definitely not as fun as a GT3 IMO.

There is more difference between a GTS and a turbo than there is between a turbo and a turbo-S…

Weren’t you ranting and raving about allocations? Now you got one and your forecasting depreciation curves?

Are you looking to drive or invest?

If you’re a speculator, keep the touring.

@chance6 naive question, but if you like your GT3 and you just got it, why would you switch to a TT/TTS?
I could be unduly influenced by the fact that in California you get zero sales tax break for your trade in…so it would be a massive tax loss to change cars so quickly.
is there a reason you would prefer a TT/TTS?

I traded my 2024 ordered TTS for my 2024 GT3T. Totally different cars as far as I am concerned. Having both would have been a great option, just not an option that would have worked for me.

I just traded my 22 GT3T for a 23 TTS. Funny how we all chase different things. As much as i loved the touring and the manual, it had too many things that bothered me.

Hi, would you mind sharing your reasons?
This seems to be a rarity, and oddly enough, I spent years lusting over a GT3T manual, but when the time and opportunity arose, I chose the TTS. Hopefully get delivery this month.

Only on Rennlist.

In the real world, not so much.

oh I was ranting about a terrible dealership that promised allocations and never followed up. They suck! And I got one offered because I created a new relationship. Also a stand-up SA as far as I can tell.
I love to invest but also love to drive (?)
As for what car is most special...it's probably the Touring but a Turbo is no slouch.

Something to be said for ordering a car - kind of special. A Turbo is always a blast to drive, and the 992 is a step in the right direction in terms of dynamics. I'm sure the 992.2 Turbo will be a plus-up in terms of power though.
But it's funny, when you calculate power:weight ratio, the GT3 and base Turbo are about the same.
510/3200 = 0.1584
580/3636 = 0.1595

Dont forget that monster torque of TT/S...it defines the drive.

That Torque though 🤨. Turbo is much faster so power to weight is deceiving. if you are a Torque person, the lack of usable Torque down low will bother you. Best to have both
