Default Best method to launch the Turbo S

What is the best combination of settings on launch control? Sport or Sport Plus? Sports response button activated or not? Traction Control on or off?

Traction completely off. Custom mode with no aero, performance plus and boost button.

put tires down to about 35psi or so.

Did you tune it??

You might want to get used to the launch with traction on first, however.

Car and Driver achieved their best runs by setting it in Sport mode to avoid the added drag of the extended aero and then press the sport response button to get the full 5000rpm launch.

I replicate the same setup by programming my individual mode with Sport+ drivetrain, Normal suspension (a softer suspension offers better traction) and retracted aero. I found no difference when pressing the sport response button when in the drivetrain is in Sport+. I keep the PDK in Auto for optimal shifts. I also found I get slightly better results with PSM fully off when launching on grippy clean surface. If it is a bit slippery, PSM Sport offers the best results.

That with a stock base turbo on PSC2 tires.

Drive it a bit and let the tune adapt.

What fuel are you running?

Did you log it and send the log in? Make sure to log it and check the log to ensure the tune is good.

@Spatia We are homies. Don't use 94 they aren't that great. Use Shell 93, its better fuel and will hold more power. Yes, roads are done here for another 6-8 weeks. Once you get her on the road make sure you log it and send it in, but use Shell 93 or it will pull a bit of timing on that 94.

@DKM You will gain a bit of power with the sport button, I think it adds a bit of boost. I noticed my mph and 60-130 times are better when the button is used.

It’s not a feeling I’ve tested it and logged it. Making more power on shell 93. My local mustang buddies with blowers, same thing 1-2 degrees more timing with shell 93.

that’s very cool. I appreciate that. I really don’t know anything about it. But I definitely would like to put the best fuel in my turbo S and I also have a Ford F150 with a Whipple blower in it that I have to put 93 octane in as well. this is great information and I appreciate it. I’ll be putting Shell in both my cars next fill up.

Coyote F150?? Awesome! They are weapons! If it’s a short box single cab, they move out!

My buddies here all have mustangs with whipples .. we’ve been racing back and forth, they are very fast cars!

yes it has the coyote engine. I bought the truck lifted with what’s called a black widow package. So it’s 6 inches lifted and has 35 inch tires. When I test drove the truck, it was a real dog because of the 35s. They suggested I could put a Whipple supercharger on it and that would change things up. So I decided to go with that and boy they weren’t kidding. This truck is freaking unbelievably fast. I’m extremely impressed with it. And it pulls my utility trailer and side-by-side really well also. it changed everything. I’ll be glad to try this new gas in it.

Nice! The coyotes do extremely well with a whipple on them. It will definitely like the shell 93.
