Is a Turbo S worth it?

also a driving experience at one of the porsche experience centers would do the trick and be a LOT of fun as well
you can compare head to head - RWD vs. AWD and Turbo S - it would be hoot - and less than 2% of the cost of what we're talking about spending here.

Let me share my experience.
I had a 3.0 tt 991.2 C2S with PDK and factory X51 PowerKit, Sport Exhaust, catless pipes, BMC filter, and JB4 piggyback tune. Well over 500Hp, with those mods.
Then I sold it and bought my 991.2 3.8 TT with 540Hp. I did not expect any more performance.
But man, was I wrong! The 3.8 TT accelerates like a rocket ship with boosters compared to my modified 3.0 tt C2S Not even in the same ballpark! How?
Look at the torque and smart AWD of the 3.8 TT. Seat of the pants feel? No comparison!! Cesna prop plane vs rocket ship with boosters!!
Now I'm headed towards 750 Hp and similar number for torque, with relatively mild nods on 93 octane unleaded. My 991.2 3.8 Turbo will be a warp speed rocket ship by comparison, then.

For me, The Turbo S has a completely different feel when you're driving around. Like it can't be killed...or beaten.

No 3.0 tt 911 is going to be anywhere close to the gut slamming acceleration of a 3.8 TT.
This is what I found in the 991.2 911 lineup, and my 3.0 tt had the factory X51 PowerKit, catless pipes, Sport Exhaust, BMC filter, and JB4 piggyback tune. Easily good for well over 500Hp on 93 octane.
Then I sold it and bought a stock 991.2 Turbo 3.8 TT. No comparison in performance!
The 991.2 3.8 Base Turbo accelerates so much harder than a modded 3.0 tt that it is mind boggling!
Nothing can compare to the 3.8 TTs.

I did the Turbo S vs GT3 experience back in 2021 and the. Did the GT3 experience in 2022.
The launch control module is a hoot, can’t tell you how many times I did it. It’s ridiculous in the Turbo S. PECATL should have the new expansion track section open in a year I believe.

It’s fast as hell, but it’s not 720S or F8/296 GTB fast. The launch control is definitely impressive but having owned a Taycan Turbo S, that car is still more brutally explosive than the 911 IMO (at least from 0-60 mph). I owned a 992 Turbo S for a bit but sold it when I received my 992 GT3. I’m now in the market for another more daily-able 911 and I honestly prefer the GTS, having driven it a few times at PEC LA. It sounds significantly better (particularly inside the cabin) and is more than fast enough for the street.

Driving a GT3 / TTS / GTS at a Porsche Experience could reveal some things to you. You might be surprised what you find out. It's possible that you may like the RWD GTS the most, esp if you really liked the base car.
For me, The Turbo S has a completely different feel when you're driving around. Like it can't be killed...or beaten.

I know many people do not tune. But I have 15k miles on my stage 4 TTS and she has been bulletproof.
as far as elegance and sheer value/speed ratio. I don’t think it can be beaten. Of course you can build super fast **** boxes for relatively low cost compared to any 911 but the fact is. You can never look as good doing it

25k in mods on my TTS and my car is making 980hp at the crank. 4.6 60-130. 9.3 in a QM.
