Default Trading in a 2021 992 Turbo for a 2023 992 Turbo S

Trade details:
MSRP trade value for MSRP + $14K ADM and I get to do a "re-do" spec and start fresh, getting a brand new 2023

My current 992 Turbo has 4K miles and is a 2021. When I got my 992 Turbo at a 2% discount back in the way beginning of Covid before everything took off, lol I can't blame my dealer for what the market is now.

I'm pretty happy with this deal - what do you think? Decent Deal?

A good deal would be MSRP for MSRP.

Yes, agreed... unfortunately that's not how the world works right now for about 95% of Porsche dealers.

You are getting under market value for your trade in and paying an ADM for basically the same car. Even in this market, that sounds like a bad deal.

Just my opinion, but you did ask.

OP would not get MSRP on a trade in, even in today's market.

Just because a dealer will turn around a sell the car at above MSRP, does not necessarily mean they will take one in at MSRP.

14k for a 2023 TTS is probably undermarket.

TTS are moving at $300k, or have been anyway. Obviously trade in will not reflect street prices, but I still think the dealer is making like a bandit on this deal. Of course a lot of this is market dependent. What’s a good deal in SoCal is not a good deal on the East coast/Gulf Coast.

Also remembering that ‘23 MSRP is +$9k…it’s a lot more money for the same model car when you tack on that ADM (especially considering his ‘21 had a 2% discount).

If you read the 992 section, 911s will be at 15% discount in two weeks. Average joes are broke.

Is there a way to insert a clause for when SPY250 comes to avoid the ADM? It’s not really fair that they get to sell at peak pricing on your trade while you wait for the new car.

Yes, but he got MSRP on his trade-in (so he nets 2% back).

And, he's getting a 2023MY -- a brand new car with a new OEM warranty, among other goodies (including fresh rubber).

Oh, and when does the dealer not make off like a bandit? Just a matter of how big of a bandit the dealer is ...

I assume you put some fun miles on the clock of the first one and now getting a second one new to spec sounds awesome to me.

You gotta pay to play.

Is model year 2023 going to be the last of the non hybrid TTS? If so, could be a decent deal.

Fund another dealership and sell the car yourself

in this environment? I think you made out like a bandit. I’m dealing with dealers around here that want $30k-$50k markups and one of them has a car on showroom floor at $50k+, and keep in mind I have a 4000 mile 991.2 TTS to trade.

You cant have it both ways. I cant expect to get $50K over sticker for my car, and expect the dealer to give me his at sticker. Pretty unreasonable.

I didn’t say that. I said sticker for sticker.

Honestly, do you want opinions or do you just want people to reaffirm your choice? If you’re happy with your deal then good, but I don’t think it’s a great one. Again, just my opinion. Obviously some disagree and that’s fine.
