Sticker for sticker, the dealer will still make a profit on the trade in and he’ll get a healthy standard margin on the TTS. Could he make more squeezing the customer? Of course. But if the customer is a long term client then a good dealer plays the long game.

Porsche customers have seemingly normalized the ADM practice and that’s a shame. It’s accepted as SOP, but there are dealers out there who don’t do this BS. It’s important to remember that.
Damn right! Well stated. The dealers overall are being overly greedy and over time, this will bite them. There is even less loyalty than there used to be.

To be fair, loyalty (or lack thereof) goes both ways.

When times favored buyers and dealers were offering X% off MSRP, buyers would generally shop the lowest price -- loyalty be damned.

Sure, some would be "loyal" to their long-time dealer and pay a bit more than what she might get elsewhere, but those buyers were few and far between.

Same is true with dealers even today. Yes, most are pushing ADM's like your local corner drug dealer, but there are some out there who are still selling at MSRP, or at least MSRP to those "loyal" customers.

Loyalty, or lack thereof, is a two way street.

Just be careful about playing with rocks when one lives in a glass house ...

I guess I understand, but there's a markup and then there's a MARKUP...and some of these markups just don't pass the smell test, at least to me. Might as well be at Mecum auto auction?

Excellent post...its a two way street.

I am very loyal to one porsche dealer and it got me my 992GT3 at sticker.

Why do you really want the new one. You only put 4K miles on a car you’ve had for 2 years. So either you’ve got a fleet and this is a moot point or you don’t drive it. Better off profiting on sale now if you’re that worried about quality of deal and finances and picking up one when things calm down.

Thats a really good deal honestly. You got miles on your current car and get to freshen up with one of the last MY TTs' sans hybrid...the 14k isn't the best but its not the worst either, and you get your own spec...there are plenty who would jump on that from what I'm hearing.

This is such a good deal, totally go for it! BRAND NEW CAR with some slight upgrades. It's only money, we'll all probably die with tons of our money in the bank so spend it now. Time is ticking. What color will you chose for your 2023? What color do you most want?

Just because a dealer will turn around a sell the car at above MSRP, does not necessarily mean they will take one in at MSRP.

14k for a 2023 TTS is probably undermarket.
I’m getting MSRP plus $20k on my 2022 TTS trade in from my dealer when my Touring arrives in a few weeks. They sold me the Touring at MSRP.

Then you have a very special relationship with your dealer that 99% of people out there wouldn't have. Congrats!

eBay is basically just a massive advertising platform. I’ve sold Multiple cars there (Ferrari, Porsches, BMW, MB). It always seems to do better than auto trader or DuPont. Once a buyer reaches out we do a standard contract, deposit (Venmo or PayPal) then the balance is paid via wire transfer before the car is shipped. It’s REALLY easy.

I would ask for a better deal. MSRP for MSRP +5K but no more than 10K. Unless I wanted a different color and more options I would not do this deal. I see no difference in the 21 vs the 23 MY. You already have 2 years of equity in this car.

Very fair deal to me. Imagine you buy a brand new car off the lot for msrp and come back to the same dealer next day want to switch it for another spec of the same car, doubt any dealer would offer you sticker for sticker deal. In op's case his trade-in is 2y old w/ couple thousand miles & hit is only 14k+msrp delta. I'd only wish my local dealer would be this fair.

Sell it privately and get $50,000 and then find a dealer that will sell you a new one at MSRP. That’s a good deal!

A good deal on any car is a state of mind. If you're happy with it Then it is a good deal.. Once you start talking about it everybody and their dog will try to convince you that you could have gotten a better deal. 100%
