i did akra exhaust and m eng tune on my 992 TS and couldnt be happier. dyno'd over 700whp, but real tests are in the draggy numbers. 1/4 mile trap speed went from 134 to 138 and 60-130mph time went from 6.7 to 6.1 seconds. this is all on pump (91 oct) fuel. this is destroying my previous 991 stage 4+ (meth & dodson clutch) with 100 oct fuel!

Clutch pressure issues don't come into play int 850 hp +

Plenty of tuner shops pushing stuff to the limit...gintani jcr vivid level hvcone 😝 etc and stuff is not breaking with what M E offers at stage 1/2 with exhaust.

Yes you pay to play but you don't have to jump off the swing to have safe fun.

I can't believe how much a proper tune and sport cats unleashes a beast without creating something feral...the boost rush...crazy intake sounds...downshift pops are so much better. Even normal mode is exciting when you get on it. Sport plus...it works 5500 to 7000 hard...super impressive and the sweet spot with power for a daily IMHO.

so stage 2 gets 0.6 sec on the 60-130? I thought the difference on a stage 2 would be at least double-triple

Do a little research and user experience reports are very helpful. Talk to the tuners to get a feel for their philosophy. Some people want the last ounce of performance out of their car and don’t care about flying too close to the flames….

I was approached by a GIAC tuner (AWE) in 2008 after I installed their exhaust on my 997tt. They asked if I was willing to try their first production kit on my car (larger VTG turbos, intercoolers, larger throttle body, headers) and I was very comfortable after talking a couple hours with Todd the owner. They made me an incredible deal (approx $4k for all the hardware since I already had their exhaust) and I installed in myself over a weekend. The initial startup was a disaster - one of the new turbos was defective and the car shut down promptly. I called them and they were just as distraught as me. The owner flew down the next day to TX and took the defective turbo back himself and assembled me another one and overnighted it. Within 3 days I reinstalled just in time to take the car to a standing mile competition - 2008 Texas Mile. Car ran 187mph in a standing mile despite a 15-20mph headwind than limited VR Alexander (RIP) modified CGT to only 177mph and EVOMS had their 997tt run 190mph (aero mods no rear view mirrors, taped body seams). Z06’s were only hitting 150’s.

Since that initial hiccup I have over 20k trouble free miles on that car to this day, and it’s easily a grocery getter that has no issues with CEL or heat etc. Still runs a 6.9s 60-130 which isn’t half bad for a 15 year old car even compared to modern standards

Whether there will be issues or tunes are safe can only be determined once you have miles. I bet at this point the most a tuned car driven (after the tune) is 10,000 miles? Thats nothing. Let me know at 20,000 or 30,000 miles and your experience as far as spark plugs and coils, wheel bearings, PDK clutch wear, carbon build up on your bumper. Most people fall for this “I just got my car tuned, it doesnt blow up when I do a highway pull”. Let us know if you push the car 8-9/10th consistently and how the car does with increased temps, clutch wear, bearings etc.

100% there will be, unless you get a tune. Catless removes the cats completely and gives you a clear passthrough pipe instead. If you thought highflow cats were risky for a CEL, this approach will gaurantee it... again unless you have a tune, and turn off that check.

This is a good point. Most tunes may not reveal any issues with street driving. Weekends of track driving on the other hand are merciless. Weekends of track driving in the summers of Texas are unforgiving. I probably have >5k miles of track miles on my 997turbo from TWS, MSR cresson, COTA, MSR Houston, Eagles Canyon on Hoosiers. I would imagine Porsche wouldn’t have the ability to recreate those conditions testing the 997 mules, and I would be surprised if the European tuners would expect to have to account for such heat as well.
