I would have definitely gone this route, especially since I like the twin exhaust tips, and then switched out the exhaust. However, I really dislike the design of the rear valence portion that surrounds the tips on the non-PSE!!! It just doesn't sit well with my eyes. Otherwise, I could have saved $3500, and put that toward the AM exhaust.

I used the savings on the PSE to paint gloss black the diffuser and side air vents. Very happy with the finished product and it should have been an OEM option.

Can I ask about the digital button settings?

Does it do closed, 100% open, and automatic? Are you losing the automatic valve changes as I would guess they are there to maximize power?

Any photo? Thanks.

On every aftermarket exhaust I have ever seen, the button performs the same way as on the stock exhaust. Open and closes the same.

It acts the same was as the PSE button. From previous threads, it looks like the PSE does not act like 100% opening all the time. You are not losing any of the Porsche programming. It simply gives you the ability to have it open at idle. You can easily hear the difference. Pic coming soon.

I like the looks of the non sport exhaust better, what would be the best option when I want to make the sound better?

Thanks for posting the photo. I am impressed with either how nice your dealer is, or how persuasive you must be. Now if they can just activate the headlights...

This is what I have. The valves open in sport mode below 3000, then are relatively closed between 3000- ~4500, then open partially. In sport plus mode, I suspect the valves are never fully open. The car is louder in 2nd gear at 2500 rpm than in 1st gear at 5500.

Whether you can override, remove, or fix the valves as open remains unclear. From best I can tell, the car selects how open they are.

You use the same 200 cell HJS cores as everybody in the industry except Akravpovic who makes their own proprietary cats.

Are you suggesting that the engineers at Fabspeed have been able to find a back pressure that can create more power than the Porsche engineers did in the factory?

I think it may be time to throw down the gauntlet and challenge these numbers.
Anyone in the NY, NJ, CT area with a TTS who would like to volunteer their car for independent Dyno Testing?

I will pay for the Dyno and all the labor to install and remove the exhaust provided Fabspeed will agree to accept a return and full refund if their exhaust (on stock tune) doesnt come close to their advertised numbers.
Not asking Fabspeed to match or exceed their figures for a refund, all I want to see is that it can even come CLOSE to those figures.

Anyone in?
I'm close enough to them but I won't have my car until late October/early November and would like to get some miles on it beforehand. If no one steps up by then I'll do it.

I have a great relationship with the dealer but this is not rocket science. Any good tech knows how to access PCM and open features. The valves act the same way as you mention. I doubt they would want to activate the headlights as this would probably be illegal as far as they are concerned.

I just made the observation that pressing the boost button in sports mode closes the valves. So it would seem the valves do contribute to the power. The valves sound more closed in sports plus compared to sports. But I do like the greater sonic feedback in sports mode.

UPDATE - I need to try again and see if the exhaust is the same or whether it is just the backfiring in sports mode.

Thanks for sharing the information.

Question1:
After the dealer unlocking the PSE feature on PCM, does it enable only the on/off function of the valve ? Or does it somehow actaully make the exaust sound as PSE ?

Question2:
Is the (non-PSE) stock exaust sound of 992 Turbo (non-S) okay? Or is it significantly worse than the PSE equipped one?

Thank you.

I am not able to hear the difference between my non PSE car with the exhaust button turned on (flaps open) and the PSE car. There is no difference between the stock exhaust and the PSE exhaust for the Turbo and the Turbo S.
