I did the fab speed sport cats a while ago. While it made it sound better, It wasn't enough. Therefor I ordered the rest of their kit (the valvetronic) Once it arrives I will report back with impressions!

Correct me if I'm wrong but with GMG's full exhaust, you lose the PSE button as there are no valves. They rig them up to stay open? I guess less parts or things to break but I like the ability to close the values.

Fabspeed claims 54.9HP peak HP gain on dyno with sport cats. Why is that about 2x any other cat system or full exhaust out there? Aren't they sourcing very similar 200 cell guts?
Doesn't seem Fabspeed has yet tested or posted gains with their cats and center exhaust combined. Anybody have this? CEL? Will there be challenges with emissions testing on that combo?

Super hard to pick based on sound on YouTube videos. Anybody heard them both? GMG sounds a bit more intense on YouTube listens.
Hey Zman,

We strictly use 200cel HJS cats imported from Germany, the best in the industry. We have no CEL guarantees on our Sport Cats, Valvetronic, as well as the combination.

Shoot me a PM with your location and I can try to connect you with a customer in the area!

Hi, Do all turbos have valves? All that is different is the ability to open by a button at low RPMs?

Yes, PSE and Non-PSE Turbos both have valves. The only difference being the console button to control them at will.

I have seen it mentioned a few other places, but the dealer can unlock PSE through the ECU for cars not equipped from the factory.

Fabspeed is correct. Dealer was able to do this on my non PSE and I now have the same ability to open the exhaust at will . The digital button is now available on the PCM.

OK, so the valves can be removed without a CEL warning?

John, I think the part of zmanbr's question that most of us would find more interesting, but went unanswered, is

This is something I am curious about as well in trying to make my decision.

I spoke to a fella who works on TTS's and he says the stock system is very very good. In fact, he said there is very little to extract by going aftermarket without a tune. So, change just the exhaust parts and gain next to nothing, except some weight savings and perhaps sound. Add a tune and things change as the AM systems are more free flowing. But, the way the car is currently tuned, changing exhaust parts wont add much in way of performance.

Not looking to start a flame war, just repeating what was told to me with extensive dyno testing.

I did answer the question, we use superior catalytic converters and have 25 years of experience working on turbo-charged cars. If you get the back pressure correct you can pull a lot of power out of the 992 without a tune.

We have worked on plenty of TT's over the years as well!
If you're ever in the Philly area, stop by the shop and we can show you firsthand! We have nothing to hide

"we use superior catalytic converters "
You use the same 200 cell HJS cores as everybody in the industry except Akravpovic who makes their own proprietary cats.

"If you get the back pressure correct you can pull a lot of power out of the 992 without a tune."
Are you suggesting that the engineers at Fabspeed have been able to find a back pressure that can create more power than the Porsche engineers did in the factory?

I think it may be time to throw down the gauntlet and challenge these numbers.
Anyone in the NY, NJ, CT area with a TTS who would like to volunteer their car for independent Dyno Testing?

I will pay for the Dyno and all the labor to install and remove the exhaust provided Fabspeed will agree to accept a return and full refund if their exhaust (on stock tune) doesnt come close to their advertised numbers.
Not asking Fabspeed to match or exceed their figures for a refund, all I want to see is that it can even come CLOSE to those figures.

Anyone in?
