I have this same issue, thank you for making the video. Shows it isn't me. I drive in manual often (especially when in sport +, which is also often).

I would think so too but it looks like this issue has been there for a while and is not limited to the Turbo. I found this post from last year in the general 992 forum:

Same issue here. I have it in the shop now and they are trying to get it fixed. I will let you guys know if they have an update or what they find.

I too had to do a video to prove it. Doesn’t show up in logs. Happens randomly, but I’ve noticed it mostly in higher R’s. Gas pedal pressure doesn’t seem to be the issue either. I think I just remember it more when I get on it. Feeling like a true jackass that doesn’t know how to drive a car. Frustrating….

to be continued…

Thought I'd revive this thread. Are people still having issues here with this first to second shift? Any rhyme or reason when it happens or is this totally random?
And is it limited to the 992 turbo or are other 992's having the same issue?

I've got to believe there will be a recall or bulletin out on this at some point.

I too am still having this issue still. Boy do I feel like a real dbag when I let her rip and can’t find second. Ha!

The dealer couldn’t verify it and thought it was a user error when I called them. I sent them a link to the forum and they said “Ohhh.” Took it in and they couldn’t replicate it either. I had the car in for service in June and no updates were available at that point so who knows. They said they would report it, but once again who knows.
I must say, this is my only complaint with this car. I love it! Crappy thing is that my wife does too. Ha! I hear it start up and I’m like REALLY again???

Maybe the best thing is for more folks to keep reporting this to our dealers. Porsche has to be aware of the problem by now.

I am having the same issue on occasion. I will report it to my dealer when the car is in for service next week.

Hi
I have just taken delivery of a new Turbo S .
Mine does the exact same thing as yours. Mine does it, or i have experienced it only on manual mode and in both normal and sport plus.
in sport plus if you pull away sharply and try to change from 1st to 2nd it wont (or not always). On several occasions it has caused me to hit the rev limiter. I am so not happy about it Going to my dealer with it now.
Have you had any solutions provided my Porsche?

Had this issue on my 991.1 TTS. No issues with my 991.2 though.

I have managed to get a video of my car not changing to 2nd from 1st which I have sent to the dealer. They are doing whatever diagnostics on Tuesday and sending it all off to Porsche.
i managed to replicate this issue on 5 out of 6 attempts. The technique, not that there should be one, is:-
normal mode in manual.
come to a complete stop having braked hard so car stops quickly
pull away briskly using say 25% throttle
as car hits 4000 rpm pull the up shift paddle
5 out of my 6 attempts the shift from 1st to 2nd does not happen

having read all the posts on this topic I can’t believe Porsche have not done something’s about it on their “flagship” model

will keep you posted

My car was gone to the dealer for over three weeks trying to fix this problem. They were going back and forth with Germany and replaced a whole bunch of parts software and hardware.

but in sports mode it still does not engage 2nd gear from 1st especially when the car is cold. Better when car is warmed up.
