So is there not a setting that allows the car to shift if you go past redline? Someone referenced the GTR above, I've had 6, they have a setting (keep it off 'race' for transmission) and the car will automatically shift to next gear even in manual mode if you are about to bounce off the rev limiter.
I was hoping the porsche did something similar, I am guessing it does not? My hellcat durango has this same crap, where if YOU dont shift the gear (while in manual), the driveline is HAPPY to let you keep bang fk'in the rev limiter until you finally decide to make the change, even at WOT. Its very frustrating.. the car should fix my stupidity

Took the car in to the dealership today to get the 1st to 2nd gear missing looked at. Took a technician out and demonstrated the problem several times.
They have checked the fault logs and software updates and not found any problems. The dealership have been great and promised to look further but to be honest I'm not holding my breath.
I cannot understand why its doing it as it seems to want to prevent the use of the flippers to change gear. I'd be very surprised if my driving style is much different to anyone else's.
It would be nice to get an official answer that would explain the problem, even if it's "Sorry, that's the way it works", but with the added note in the manual: "To change gear in manual from 1st to 2nd you have to make sure you don't press the accelerator more the 30% and wait till you are over 3500 rpm otherwise you will have to hit the up shift again within 0.5 seconds so you don't hit the rev limiter" (Sorry being a bit sarcastic there).
Going to continue to work with dealership on the problem and will update if I get any more info.

Thanks for the update. That is pretty much what my dealer said. I will be surprised if they come back with a fix.
Porsche must know about this issue but are choosing to do nothing about it.
strange

have you informed your dealer? If you haven't i would inform them and show them this thread. There must be 10 owners now stating the same thing. Porsche cant not continue to ignore it

Maybe a signed letter from a group of Rennlist owners effected….that helped with GT3 engine warranty extension, etc…when a group actually went to HDQ and secured additional warranty coverage for the 991.1.....
Porsche has a history of letting things linger, unless they feel the pressure of i.e. potential litigation, lost sales or bad public PR, etc…
It took 10 years with the filing of a class action suit to get damages for those effected with the 996 IMS failures - I believe 8 % of the cars were effected per the suit, which seems small but 8 out of 100 is large enough to owners impacted. The elongated time to react gave Porsche time to redesign the flaw out of the next model - 997 - eliminated the shaft entirely….
You would hope they would be faster in today's fast moving world, i.e. social media communications speed, and especially in regards for the high ticket money spent on the new 992 TTS…..the reports of this shifting issue have been reported for at least 6 months, very early in the launch with real world driving.....they should be on it yesterday....but it is probably one of those, "it doesn't effect all cars".... things..
Good luck to all with this issue, hoping the cars having the issue get fixed and it’s not complicated to fix......

It’s happened a couple time to me also. Annoying. Might switch back to a GTS with manual MT. I’d miss the ACC for commuting in rush hour but PDK isn’t my jam.

To those that have experienced this issue,
which driving mode were you still in?
was the vehicle still coming up to operating temps, randomly during a drive at normal operating temps, and/ when temps are high?
% throttle applied?
curious to see if there is a pattern of some sort to the issue.
