Not bad at all! But seams to me that it was much colder when they drove the turbo. But never the less this is where you will see that extra 60-70HP come into play 🤷🏼‍♂️

warm air, warm track > cold air, cold track

warmer conditions = better grip = better track time

It's true for formula or prototype cars. But it is absolutely inaccurate for high-hp street cars or even most race cars based on street cars. Tires in a 911 Turbo driven at the limit will be at or above their optimal operating temperature within 3 laps, even in near-freezing temperatures, on most tracks. Even the lighter and less powerful RS with bigger tires, is still faster when it's colder, and is limited by tire overheating in most dry conditions. A cold day may lead to less traction on a warm up lap, but once warmed up, colder temperature benefits both grip and horsepower. It's very clearly visible on data logs - as air temps go up, peak Gs go down.

Man...1.5 seconds off one of the quickest road cars out there is just fine with me.

Yeah, the Turbo S is really for bragging rights (and this is coming from someone picking up a TTS tomorrow). If you put me on Hockenheimring with a TTS tomorrow, I bet I’ll be 15 seconds slower than the Turbo time they set.

For those wondering about the temperature, a quick google search for past temperature at Baden-Württemberg on Feb 4th at 17h shows 6degC (43degF) when the TT was tested, and 18degC (64degF) on June 8th at 11h when the TT-S was tested.

Huge difference, both where on summer tires. I’m sure that the margin would be smaller if they tested in the same conditions.

Given the differences in the specs that supports lap times, I would expect the S to be quicker that the non-S. But unless they were tested under the same conditions (by the same driver) I would not over-think the lap times.
