Rear 911 Turbo S emblem
Hello everyone. I am new here, first post. I just ordered a GT Silver Metallic Turbo S. It arrives in about 10 days. I notice that sometimes the rear 911 Turbo S emblem is chrome and sometimes it's black. Does it depend on the color of the car? Does the factory determine what looks best on particular colors? Or, is the chrome standard and the black and upgrade?
Thanks
Thanks

From what I've seen on the older cars, Chrome is standard and Silver and Black were an Option that usually said, " painted emblem" or something like that on the build sheet.

body color looks like Earl Scheib (for those who remember the famous $20.00 full car paint jobs from the 1960's/70's - nothing taped off - even your glass was at risk of overspray...just a full body spray) no disrespect to those ordering it....but Earl is etched in to my memory

My .02 - I don't like the "Porsche" in black - normally I do this - but on the 992 cars it just washes out. Pulled up behind a 992 yesterday with it blacked out - hard to even read Porsche with it like that against a black background. Give me the standard silver for this. Not a fan of body color or silver for the model - but usually this changes for me depending on the color of the car. Best out of the lot is gloss black model. But then again if I ever order a 992 - I'll get model delete as I did on my 991.2 turbo - too much to clean and detail around - and if you can't tell its a 911 turbo by just the wide butt - you're kinda lost to begin with.

I don't know about a cheap Earl overpaint, but I got my "Turbo S" the color of my car to reduce the flash/bling and to keep my car incognito as much as possible. And going for this option was a change of pace for me being this is my 11th 911. It's a personal choice, but bringing in an Earl "S" comparison into this conversation is a lack of respect for the quality that Stuttgart puts into every 911.

The "Earl Scheib" comment was pretty funny. Ahhhh, the memories.....
The "Body color is the real upgrade, looks great that way" comment I agree with. However, I chose to DELETE!
Either people know what it is, or they will figure it out when I flick my right foot and they are left in the dust.... Personally, I don't need to tell everybody it is an S model but for some that is important and there is nothing wrong with that.
What I have found out, no matter what you do there is someone who thinks it's "wrong/horrible/atrocious" blah, blah, blah.......all that matters is that you like it!
Congratulations, and have great fun. I know I have…
.....back that a** up!!!
