I'm not actually taking delivery until next Wednesday, but thanks to @liljasinstagram for grabbing some awesome photos while it's still waiting to get PPF:ed.

Beautiful. Stunning. But why oh why the front license plate? (Can you remove it?)

Thanks! And no, I can't remove it, at least not legally. Depends a bit on how much you want to risk getting stopped by the police. The look doesn't bother me that much, so I'm fine with having it.

Looks amazing! I almost did Cohiba on my Touring, but went with the Chalk EM interior. The gentian blue looks fantastic in your photos - but I like metallic blues.

Default Evolution Over 66 Years

When you're 86 and you've waited since September 2018 to take delivery of your last Porsche, your 10th Porsche, and for 66 years, from a 1966 912 to the sale of a 2014 991.1 Turbo S in January 2022, Ive had a Porsche in my garage, and since retirement in 2016, I've had the time to think about a fantasy and a love affair, and how it began, and evolved. 69 days without a Porsche, using TrackYourDream, and the various shipping apps to follow the Glovis Sonic to its 2:30 AM arrival in Benicia, CA, where I, and my long suffering wife, sat in my Tesla S Plaid, behind the guarded gates to watch the ship dock. After learning to drive in a 1948 Packard, and driving with my father in a new 1952 Plymouth Cambridge from Chicago to Los Angeles, we landed in the midst of the Southern California sports car explosion, including Ken Miles and Jack MacAfee and the 550 Spyder, the Speedsters and I got to ride to UCLA in my friends MG TC. An opportunity to drive the 1955 Volkswagen of a Saudi classmate left me with the impression that a small, agile car, with more sensitive steering, a better feeling gearbox, and relative economy, was the car for me. With my dad's help, and a 6 month wait, I got, nearly, the car of my dreams, a new 1957 black Volkswagen. The red leatherette I ordered, would have extended the wait, so I settled for gray cloth. Thus began the beginning of a fantasy fulfillment.

First "Porsche" and Last Porsche. The evolution of rear engine design from 1937 to 2022. In the background a 1956 Volkswagen with 36 HP, oval window and red leatherette interior.

My first "Porsche" was a new 1957 that saw me through medical school and post graduate training. I ignored the lines on the speedometer that indicated top speed in gear. I overinflated the rear tires and raced real Porsches up Sunset Blvd. (LA). I event drifted. I never spun nor crashed. I fantasied.

I thought I was a hotshot, and I remembered the experience, but there were 8 new, real Porsches between 1957 and March 14, 2022 when the Turbo S was delivered. I drove it to Sunnyvale where Mark Merrell has about 50 VW's of every variety, and he let me drive this one.

Showroom floor, at the time of delivery.

Graphite Blue interior with Silver Thread. The thread cost me twice as much as the entire price of my "first Porsche", the 1957 Volkswagen.

In the driveway, displacing a Tesla Model S Plaid for the sole place in my garage. The wisteria were in bloom, to celebrate.

Not quite perfect, as Porsche Connect currently defies connection, despite two days of trying, with two different, and very polite, Porsche representatives, who went through about 5 logins, rechecked the information, verified the password, and promised that they'd get back to me. They didn't! I dropped off the $237,590 fantasy at the dealership on Tuesday, hoping that their service department might have a greater influence on PCNA and its technical wizards. Of course, transparency would help, and a sincere apology would go a long way, if it came from the responsible people, but this is Porsche, and, obviously, I'm an addict. The car is paid for, more than paid for, as $5,000 in overcharge (deposits) is due. Meanwhile, a Tesla S Plaid and a Mini John Cooper Works provide for most of my reasonable (and unreasonable) automotive needs.

What is the shade of blue, and what interior did you choose?

Congrats, very nice build! I had this same issue on mine a few months ago. The PCM was in "Private Mode" and would not send out data, made it look like no login/password was accepted - no other errors. As soon as I turned it off - everything worked fine. The dealer didn't even realize it, I had to play with it a day or two. Good luck....
