The impressive 0-60 and 1/4 mile times and the original poster’s point about being disappointed are not necessarily inconsistent. Porsche is genius in their marketing acumen. They understand that 0-60 and 1/4 miles times (and the resultant impressive You Tube posted 1/4 mile drag races) absolutely sell cars. As a result, they’ve created a launch control system and have set the gearing on their transmissions to optimize 0-60 and 1/4 miles times. Neither helps with acceleration from a 65-70 mph roll, and the gearing may actually hinder that.

Having said all that, I’m taking delivery Thursday on a new turbo S cab and have no buyer’s remorse whatsoever. I also have a later version of the McLaren 12C. I fully expect the turbo S to smoke the 12C off the line and that the 12C will hold its own if not outperform the turbo S from a 65-70 mph roll give that it is only about 30HP down and materially lighter than the turbo S.

And I get the original poster’s disappointment with the pull from 65-70 mph. For many of us who don’t track their cars, that may be the most useful everyday metric there is in that we frequently need/want to accelerate from 65-70 to get around left lane dawdlers.

Hence my comment about him tuning it.

Did you see what he did after my "Tune it....Thread Closed" comment?? He started a thread calling me a "Dictator"...lol
Thinking I actually closed his thread and that I was a moderator, I guess...

lol

EDIT: He's since told me he thought I was a moderator and that I actually closed it. We squashed it. My apologies for my misunderstanding post.

Default This car is definitely as fast as advertised

Have put about 500 miles on and wow! What a car. Puts on speed like a lunatic but when you're cruising around it's "just a 911". Now I know better than to think a heavier car with less power than a 720 performs like one so it doesn't! Yes I owned a 720 and 2RS. But from a dig I think up to 100mph it would take a 720 no problem.
The suspension and steering is way way improved over 991.2 which to me unfortunately was a snooze fest. Can tell the GT folks did some work. It's an immense car, and I can't think of a better daily. Well done Porsche!

It's not rocket science that a 911TT with a deficit of around 100hp crank (both cars shoot above the advertised manufacturer's claim) and an extra heavy passenger will lose a roll race...
No disrespect to n&d but I simply do not understand where he is coming from

When you are talking about poor acceleration from 70mph roll etc, do you all mean from 70 mph in auto, then floor it ?. If so, why not drive in manual, and a gear lower, and floor it, i guarantee this car will not feel slow then, and i havent even got a 992 Turbo S yet ?, or am i missing something ?.

Apparently there was an update. I take delivery of my car tomorrow and the PCM and PDK updates have been completed. October 2020 build.
