That is correct. When I asked my dealer about non S a while back, they had no answer

hopefully should be an answer by fall

Same answer from my dealer, said Porsche might even skip the Turbo altogether....which I find hard to believe.

Would be crazy if they skipped the turbo. I know more S are sold vs non S but some want to option car without all the bundled options in S

Maybe they skip that price point since 4s and Targa 4s with options are close...and turbocharged..makes Turbo S more unique

Hey guys...new to the forum but on the "wait list" for 992 turbo non-s...

This info popped up last week....first of anything in months.

https://www.formacar.com/en/news/view/27564.htmlThe Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S, which is shown here, debuted four months ago, while its non-S counterpart was never revealed. Today, Rosstandart – short for Russian federal agency for technical regulation – posted an official VTA with all the 992 Turbo specs listed there.

The Vehicle Type Approval paper mentions that the new Turbo comes powered by the same 3.75-liter, opposite six-cylinder engine as the Turbo S. The engine is normally capable of 650 horsepower (478 kilowatts) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque on the Turbo S, but it will be de-boosted to 581 PS (427 kW) and 750 Nm (553 lb-ft) on the more affordable sports car. The eight-speed, dual-clutch PDK transmission will carry over without any modifications, preserving even its usual gear ratios.

On the outside, the Turbo-non-S will likely be identifiable by its different body kit and slightly tweaked suspension, but the VTA mentions neither, so it remains speculative.

It looks like the car should celebrate its official reveal very soon.

That's good news, I'm also on the list for a "regular" Turbo. Hopefully it's announced sooner than later.

Great find! That is a big drop in horsepower from 650 to 581 (a difference of almost 70 hp). I wonder if they are using smaller turbochargers on the standard turbo -- given that the 991.2 had different turbochargers with only a 40 hp difference.

I too question if the 10% HP drop can be explained by drop in boost alone. However, TQ numbers look beastly and still better than the 991.2 turbo s.

I would be shocked if the standard turbo has different turbochargers since added cost in current state of the world so just de-tuning makes the most practical sense especially first iteration of 992. I also heard standard turbo would be 600HP. I say we wait till official reveal for details since anything at this point is speculation.

I’d imagine the “state of the world” didn’t effect the way they planned production for the S & non-S. So if R&D had different turbos on the non-S, then that’s the way it will be. These cars have been planned well in advance; and well before COVID struck.
