What Special GT Cars are Coming?

what would porsche need to charge to make the ROI on a 1-2k unit 718R exceed the ROI of producing another few thousand 718rs to run out the model? more than an S/T? a lot more right? ST (beyond its own p&l) creates huge brand equity for 911 and porsche generally, plus re-usable future development cost for suspension, etc.
cool idea, but there are so many issues the company is facing which are already caused by complexity and stretching its thinned out management too far that i'd bet heavily against it.

I never said a 718R was coming. In fact I said it was the tightest kept secret. No one has denied it, but I also haven’t heard it’s coming.
My personal thoughts are, it won’t. PAG has too many things going on and while I think the GT department originally wanted to have a final last limited production celebration send off for the chassis, I don’t think logistically they can.
I also do think they built a few prototypes of the car and wouldn’t be surprised if we saw a development study of the car or something like it at one point in the future as a “could have been” model.

I think Spyder RS tapped the final 718 resources for the GT department.

there is nothing indicating a manual spyder RS or 'R' has ever been a realistic thing. every other car they have pushed super limited numbers on, from the 911R to the Porsche Design Anniversary Targa, or the Heritage line (50/60/70's and eventual 80's) has been heavily camo tested, focus grouped, hinted at etc.
718 ends with the 4RS and Spyder RS. Too many issues with the EPA, CAFE type regs on MPG for them right now with all these new vehicles being launched...992.2, Cayenne, Panamera, Macan BEV, Taycan.2 etc - not to mention accelerating the development of the Boxster/Cayman EV platform.
We have a lot of cool 992.2 product that will start eventually breaking cover in a few months for the typical 4-5 years of model roll out into another 20+ potential variants...would be silly to assume they would not follow the 991.2 and 992.1 playbook on that.
The real question on the GT3/GT3RS/GT2RS type cars coming in 992.2- how much will there be a distinction between the current Manthey kits and the Weissach Package cars vs the 'base' cars? The real issue is that the Manthey stuff shaves so much time off the Nordschliefe times that it makes the 'standard car' in the newer version push the edges a lot further into more expensive production...that could be painful for a lot of buyers. But- Porsche is determined to keep improving and dropping lap times with each model.

When I speak to an SA at Porsche Marin asking about upcoming products, I feel I have more current/leaked info than them. Perhaps a Rennlist account should be mandatory for them.

This is generally true that we hear more things than many dealers, but even if they knew, it’s not in the average dealer’s interest to stoke excitement about future special models (that will have more willing buyers than available cars anyway) at the expense of selling current models.
My wife says I overwhelmed him with knowledge. haha.
That's what 19-years on Rennlist and decades of Porsche fandom get you.
Fresno is only a three-hour drive if CJ has any chalk Macan GTS available...

It really doesnt matter what special products are coming. The quality is way down and digitalization is way up. At some point, its going to feel…. Different….
