Ive heard this for a long time. A 718R car. It’s probably the tightest kept secret at PAG right now. I wouldn’t be totally surprised if that’s what is debuting at Monterey in a couple of weeks.
The only issue I know of is that it would have to be a North American only car. (well ROW except EU)

I can't reveal more, otherwise the cleaning lady will stop sharing with me classified information. I said it's not based on the 992. So this piece of information should give you a hint about what type of Porsche I'm talking about!

Bergspyder was based on a 981. @KSAF was only saying that this car would not be based on a 992. So a 982 Bergspyder one-off would make sense. Question remains around the transmission. The 981 Bergspyder had the 981 Spyder manual transmission. I don't see Porsche developing a manual transmission that can fit the mid-engine chassis of a 982 with the GT engine for a one-off car unless it was planning on amortizing that development cost on something like a 718 R. But given that we haven't seen a single test mule of such a car, my guess would be that a hypothetical 982 Bergspyder would either have the GT engine with a PDK or the 9A2 Evo 4.0 engine from the 982 GTS 4.0 / GT4 / Spyder and a manual.
Of course, it may not be a Bergspyder at all. But hypothesizing is fun.

At some point, in my view i would expect to see.
992.2 GT2RS, Same for 3RS, GT3 Wing and Touring and Speedster, hope this is basically an ST with soft top RS engine with 6 speed GT Box is as good as it gets IMO.
As mentioned above, GTS Heritage , then 930 Tribute , along with Sports Classic type power and same 7 speed Box in a none hybrid Turbo 992.2.
And lets no forget the Mission X, 718R would have been nice but not seen any spy shots etc.
IMO

If they don’t build a manual Id also consider a manual swap as well if there was a high quality option available. Here in Canada a SRS is 250-270 and the very few speedsters are 500k plus.

I actually find the pdk spyder rs really appealing and don’t think I’d prefer that car in manual. Something about the way the sound/power is developed and interacts better with a pdk than it would a manual. Mostly intake, barks on rapid pdk downshifts. Plus the shorter gearing, you are constantly shifting gears. 911 gt’s better at winding out with manual, theater builds and crescendos.
Is there any risk the next speedster is NOT a gt car?

dont see a 718R happening
-6 speed from 718 can't handle the torque
-6 speed from gt3 is too big
-no spy pics
-718 ICE ends q3 '25
-RL needs to put down the hopium crack pipe
....please PAG prove us wrong

I have a 992 GT3 Manual and a 718 Spyder RS. All my previous GT cars were manual, and the PDK in the Spyder RS, with the short gear ratios and sharper shifts than the GT3s, is fantastic and matches the car perfectly. It was my fear because I sold cars due to the PDK, and my main concern when I traded my manual Spyder...but I'm super happy with it.

The available Speedsters in Canada all got exported to USA and Asia for a premium, I esttimate atleast half of the 50 that came left and hence the reason there are almost zero for sale and I think it will be a huge premium moving forward.
