They charged $266 for 8 quarts of oil (of which they only used no more than 5??? Holy cow! That's ridiculous. I did the oil change myself for about $90 which also included the filter. I'm assuming that labor costs are imbedded in those numbers but still!

From what I can tell, he is not in the US and those numbers are likely prices in foreign currency.

Yes, I'm well aware. It's probably just not reflected on the invoice but I'll double check with them. I'd be surprised if they've been putting the wrong oil in all the GT cars here considering they gave me the updated manual and the updated sticker.

Yeah it's insane, I'm just glad I don't have to pay for anything except tires and petrol for the first 5 years.

Technically Porsche says you can use the X3 oil as long as it was purchased prior to the C40 GT oil notice (indicating perhaps the X3 formula changed after that, or perhaps just ensuring folks don’t get pissed about their X3 they had on hand…)

You are correct. That is a technicality I failed to point out.

Just got the one-year service done and unintentionally exactly one year to the date that I picked up the car. It passed the windshield and rear windscreen. Decided to do a pretty thorough cleaning of the car and removed the diffuser. I noticed that the new oil filter has the Porsche and Mahle logos worn out to the point where only the P and the O are visible for Porsche. Is this pretty typical after an oil change? I really hope this isn’t a used filter. The oil does seem clean from what I can tell without removing anything. I’m thinking whatever belt type device they used to tighten the filter, probably wore off the logos. Just a little paranoid and will reach out to the service team on Monday.

Very weird. They should be using a factory-approved oil filter wrench, not a belt. I have a Hazet and it fits perfectly.

Man, I’m glad I decided to do all my own oil changes two years ago. It seems the correct job is done only a small percentage of the time.

Recently took my 2023 R8 Spyder in for its “free” engine oil change (pre-paid maintenance), and man did they screw that up.

Typical.
So where can we get a couple of quarts of this?

Suncoast will ship them to you.

But with the part number you should be able to ask your Porsche dealer to order it. It’s not acceptable for them to play dumb — Porsche dealers have this many places for a long time now. Call Porsche North America and complain — they take complaints very seriously.

The X3 formula hasn’t changed. It may be out of production as it’s been replaced by both the X4 (for non-9k rpm engines) and GT (for 9k rpm engines).

I think all X3 is the same, but C40 changed at a point in time (when C40 changed from X3 to X4) and C40 GT was added.

Got an update from service. Apparently, the new filters come with faded logos straight out of the box. And then they use brake fluid cleaner to clean any of the residue on the outside after the install which wipes away the logos.

Interesting, thanks for letting us know.

I bought two OEM filters in May. Logos were intact.

After I did the oil change myself, I didn’t need to spray brake cleaner anywhere because there was no mess. Minor wipe? Yes.
