992 GT2 RS

800+HP in a Gt4RS and still no roll bar or harnesses I assume. How removing safety for its intended use is less liability on Porsche remains a DOT mystery.
The GT3RS is a little underpowered, perfect.

I´m also waiting on the fence. i would prefer a plug-in. because in austria (next to denmark, netherlands, ...) it would based on the WLTP cycle / the CO2 consumption - it would lead to 15% luxury tax instead of 40% (on the net price). but yeah...
my 296GTS (11%) was under the line exactly the same price as my 992 GT3 RS (38%)
Have driven 20k miles alone in my 992.1 GT3 manual, PDK, RS - the 992RS was my best car i ever owned for daily and racing.
But now sitting in my 296GTS - and kind of love the turbo+e punch. (loving a turbo engine is quite the first time in my life) those crazy whippings (sound and feel) if you go from WOT to zero-throttle. the casual wheelspin in 3rd and 4th around 4k rpm. its a lot of fun.
the ongoing fight if you can handel the power. its stressful. dirty. but also rewarding.
the 296VS (Version Speciale) will be presented around Q1/2025 - i guess they will keep the PlugIn on the 296VS - it could happen that a 296VS will have in the above listed countries also the same price as a 992 GT2RS. And with the same pricing the shotout between those two will be a real 1st world problem. huge thx to my dealers! so i will get both probably.

i hope Porsche brings the new 3,6l 400V Borg Warner e-Turbo (992.2 GTS spec) but up to 750hp and up to 9k rpm
also against the Lambo 4.0l V8 BiTurbo 10krpm
additional to the 3.6l e-turbo: the Vatra V4Drive Batterie Pack (as in the .2 GTS) - but with around 75kW boost and so also only +30kg (+another 40kg for e-engine and cables)
we will see the 992 GT2RS starting with 2026 is my guess - this will be a loong wait - as always.. hopefully it will be a fun in here to bridge the long wait!

Yeah. GT2 RS or 296 speciale next on the list ✅

I forgot to post about this, but it has been confirmed that the 2RS is certainly coming and is on the roadmap.

I have a 2RS. Not certain I’d rather have a hybrid version of it. I personally don’t think it needs more power. It made my 3RS feel slow. The 296 is an interesting car but doesn’t hit me. YMMV.

The hybrid 2rs is one that will need to be driven to fully understand it. As a 991 2rs owner I definitely don’t need more power but excited at the prospect of hybrid assist.

Plus the suspension and aero upgrades on that car will make the most difference; the extra HP will just be icing 🧁.

On the compression I run it all the time in -4 and the rebound at 0. Reduce the rebound and laser precision. It's crazy to think how much more pin point the 2RS can and will be.

Us waiting for the 992 GT2 RS 🐶

What gets me curious about the GT2 RS is the possibility of the electric turbo(s), which means little to no turbo lag. If they also nail sound, I'll be very tempted to get that instead of GT3 RS. Not sure how I feel about the possibility of it being AWD - on the one hand, it's not that beneficial on track, but on the other, it will make it much easier to make use of all the power off the track, when tires are always cold and the road surface is often less than ideal.

The 992 3RS is underpowered for all that aero. Just think how bonkers it would be to drive a 992 2RS with enough power to truly take advantage of the chassis and the 992 RS aero!
I expect the 992 2RS to be a mild hybrid, putting out 800 hp with minimal turbo lag, at cost of only modest weight gain. Would be quite the beast!
(however I would be less excited about a mild hybrid on an NA GT car). I still think lightweight, RWD, manual, but increased displacement is better for a future NA GT drivers car.
