First EV. Just crossed a year of ownership and 13K miles. Loving it so far except for a couple software quirks here and there. Suits my needs perfectly for daily use of hauling kids to and from activities and local towing now and then. It tows like a beast but unfortunately not more than about 130 miles or so. Which I don't need to do. It's a hoot to drive and I don't miss oil changes and gas station stops. The ease of charging at home is great.

Those are great photos and it's a beautiful car.

I've been a 2-door sports car plus SUV guy for a while. But the high performance "wagons" from Porsche and Audi have me rethinking that. More efficient than SUVs. Perhaps for my first EV in a few years.

So it has come time for me to join the dark side ... after driving the Durango Hellcat for years I'm about to put it up for sale as this golf cart is incoming:

I have no idea if I'm going to like it but old man Elon dropped the prices so much that it seemed like a thing to give a try and see if I can live with full electric as I don't drive more than 50 miles on an average day and have neat cars for when I actually want to drive.

In the meantime I'm dding the Z.

And I'm either gonna put the Durango on BaT or sell it privately so if anyone here is interested in the purple cat lmk.

Default Defender Carpathian V8

Is my daily so I can put it into wading mode when we get the deluge of water here in the PNW, during the winter months.

Thank you ... a drop and proper offsets make a world of difference, and the murdered out look better disguises some of the clumsiness of the design.

They did a good job with it .. but it's stupid loud so if I don't stop daily driving it soon I'm pretty sure my neighbors will revolt.

How are you liking it? I keep thinking about a C8 Z06 myself but I have never driven one. I am not the collecting type and do worry it might have quite a bit of overlap with an RS in my garage.

How about the Z06? I've been tempted on an S Plaid too with the current pricing. Around $90k (without the ripoff FSD) for a 1,020 rocket that is actually quite comfortable, smooth, and quiet with a great sound system as a DD is a compelling proposition.

This is what I noticed the most with your car.

Black has a magical way of correcting flawed or outdated design. Many older cars look better in black. A black 997 can look nearly contemporary.

Not my car

It's a fantastic car, especially for the $. Design is a little clumsy especially at the rear because of the stupid trunk, but sounds epic, all the power you need, open top both in coupe and HTC, handles and brakes better than R8 imo, really good finishes inside when specced with the full cf package, excellent tech, really very little to complain about. It's not quite the sound of the 458 after which it was benchmarked ... the 458 sang, this thing yells. But I would recommend it to anyone ... it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it, and truth is with the modes and valves dialed down it's actually not the worst daily. Other than being an NA sports car there isn't much overlap with a GT3RS. The RS is a lot more track focused whereas this thing is a more of a GT car that does well on track, a lot more analogous to a GT3, where you can get the winged or touring package and just enjoy one the street and can slap it around on track for fun.

That was exactly my thinking. My msrp was mid 90s because I did the 21" wheels but I opted out of both the EAP and FSD ... I don't keep cars that long so it doesn't make sense for me to pay the $12k for FSD so I'm just gonna do the $200/m subscription. And who doesn't need 1000+ hp on the way to CVS?!

Yep, definitely no on the EAP and FSD. Wife has a '23 Model Y for a daily runabout (great vehicle for her) and we tried the FSD for a month for the $200 and promptly cancelled. It kind of works and was a fun novelty, but it did a few semi-sketch things, you still need to occasionally put torque on the steering wheel (or yoke) and still pay attention. Factor in it doing silly stuff sometimes and we decided we'd just drive ourselves around.

The downside to the Plaid is it will make most other cars feel straight up slow. It's effortless and brutal acceleration with no drama, sound, tirespin, etc. Heck of a daily for those quick runs to CVS and around town. Plug it in every few days and it's just so easy to own. No maintenance either which is nice besides windshield washer fluid and occasional tire rotations if you want.

Let me know if you want to sell that beautiful Z06!

If you have any doubt left, take some long road trips in Germany. You'll see tons of wagons from BMW/Audi/Merc cruising in comfort at 160-180 kph (100-112 mph) for long stretches at a time. Fewer SUVs and more wagons. SUVs just add slop to every steering input with extra ride height and taller tires/wheels.

you’re gonna be blown away. I went dark side the getting up each day and having 100% full tank is just awesome. The App is amazing, turn on heating, air conditioning, etc remotely is sick. The instant power, equal to like 700hp or more is literally neck breaking enjoyment. Wait til you step on the gas, it will shock you!! Performance is same, just amazing. When I sold my Porsche, I’d thought I’d be moving to slower car, wow, was I wrong.
