Default 1500 Miles and the ENGINE is OUT

Wondering if anyone has any insight. 23 GT3 has 1500 miles and while driving the check engine light came on and it said

Auto start/stop failed
Auto blip failed.

Took it in and they said the #5 cylinder was miss firing.

They now have the engine out of it and still don’t have any ideas. They are on a goose hunt.

Anyone seen anything like this? They have now had the car in their garage longer than I’ve had it in mine.

Oh man, you were so excited and happy about this car … I’m sorry you’re having issues with it.

I don’t know what’s happening with your car but Porsche has a long history of making things right … hopefully that continues and you can get it sorted out as soon as possible.

porsche needs to give loaner cars out when this happens. would be much less aggravating if one week you had a taycan, then a 911, then a boxster, etc. makes the wait go much faster esp after probably waited 2 yrs to get the gt3 in 1st place

I feel like the quality control is not as good as before Covid. Lack of parts, long delays and pressure to deliver the cars as fast as possible are the main reasons in my opinion. You see an increasing number of issues with GT3 and I'm sure will be for RS too. Before I even get my car from factory, I was told that the wing needs to be checked to control its more than normal vibration.
The other part of the spectrum is the repair, the lack of thorough knowledge of repairing German cars in US. They essentially don't know what's going on. For your case, they have to disassemble many parts to replace the cylinder, do they know how put them back together? Not accurately, so usually after these kind of repairs other parts start to malfunction. Hopefully that's not the case, but that's my experience from owning a German car before.

So sorry to hear this.
I know how excited you were to be able to get this GT3 after waiting a year without any luck.
What was the build date of your 2023?

I had a similar issue and warning. The car went into limb mode and cannot pass 2k rpm. It turned out to be a harness issue which controls one side of the bank of the individual throttle body. Thankfully, engine didn't need to come out. Good luck with your issues.

Its on a sticker on the driver's side door.
It shows the VIN and the build month/year.

Your misfire sounds like a coil pack/ignition coil issue. Shouldnt be that big of an issue. Im surprised they havent been able to identify the issue yet. Keep us posted!

I’ll have to go get a photo of the sticker in the door. They did swap the ignition coil from #4 and the mis fire remained on the #5 cylinder

I was given a Macan Turbo loaner for 3 weeks when my GT4 had the expected third gear failure and needed a new transmission. It did make for a pleasant wait.

The sticker with your VIN and build date is in your driver's side door jam.
It is a black sticker with white lettering and the build date is in the top right hand corner of the sticker.

Ugh! Not th eway to begin a new journey. Seems like a lifetime go now, but an ex boss left the dealer in his new ‘75 Carrera S. Got about25 miles down the road. Turned out he had about one quart of oil. Got a new engine & started over. I picked up his lease about two years later. Different day & age; $ 300 a month, no mileage restriction. No issues for the five years I had it.
Good luck. Let us know the outcome.

It's a valve I bet. Happened to my car last year. It was in the shop for 6 weeks while they tried to slowly try the things you mentioned including swapping coils and stuff. Porsche got involved and sent someone to my dealership to help I think (if it wasn't tele-help). All warranty service. I made a thread about it last year in may or june. They literally had to replace a faulty valve or whatever. Started with limp mode and misfires as you said.

Same thing happened to me. I bought a 2023 911 GTS and literally within 24 hours the car gave me a check engine light with 80 miles on the clock. Took it in and dealer told me something about a misfire. Sure enough engine had to come out and its still not fixed. Porsche bought the car back from me already but man what an experience.

I wonder how ADMs are treated on a factory buyback.
Is the dealer obliged to make the customer whole as well or is the customer poop out of luck?
