Default Need help and guidance regarding RS allocation

Hello everyone!

I haven’t posted in Rennlist for some time now, but have been visiting and reading now and then. I really need your help and advice regarding my situation.

Some background. Have been a Porsche enthusiast since childhood. Purchased my first Porsche as soon as banks would lend me money.

Since then, I have owned numerous Porsches, including 997 GTS, 991.1 GT3 and currently 991.2 GT3. At the same time, I have owned Porsches for family, including a couple of Pano Turbos and currently a Cayenne. I drive my Porsches; I track my Porsches; I use them as intended.

Since 2014 I have been in a great relationship with Porsche Marin, formerly Sonnen Porsche. Have bought several cars from them, most recent being my 2018 GT3 & 2019 Cayenne.

Back in Feb 2018, I placed a deposit with them for an RS. I was 4th in line, which per Brett guaranteed an allocation.

fast forward to now. I am told by Brett that management has changed and nothing is the same. WTF? I have been f-ed around since. I can’t believe this is happening. I felt so confident and sure.

I am just baffled. Who are these allocations for? I have owned several GT Porsches, current owner, drive and track my cars, had been on the list for 5 years, number 4 spot, and I can’t get an allocation? This is ridiculous.

I am hoping to get some guidance from you guys. What can I do? What is happening with Porsche Marin?

I am thinking of writing to Porsche NA management to see if they can help.

Thank you all in advance!!!

Free advice (it’s worth what you paid for it)

1. Don’t post any grievance on rennlist
2. Stop positing any grievance on rennlist if #1 is not an option.
3. Show up in person at your dealership (Porsche Marin?) and meet with the GM
4. Tell the GM that he is not only a powerful but a handsome man
5. Throw up in your mouth a little bit.
6. Tell said GM your story and hope he is a reasonable human being.
7. If he is a reasonable human being collect your RS allocation.
8. If he is not a reasonable human being you probably don’t want to do business there.

ymmv

Welcome to the club of a lot of folks that have been through this, sad to say, but I think youll find PCNA wont respond/dealer can do this if they want/nothing owed to you so makes it tough. Best bet is try another dealer and find one you can work with.

Does it really need to be said?

You think you’re important, and you’re not. There are other customers that are way more profitable than you’ve been, and they get dibs.

I am not saying I am important; what I am saying is that Porsche is claiming they make cars for enthusiasts who appreciate them and drive them, but it seems collectors or flippers are getting them.

Also, I have had my name on that damn list for 5 years.

So you put a deposit down 5 years ago and your dealer was able to guarantee you an allocation on a car that did not exist yet?

you have no recourse but to find another allocation - and I'd be surprised if PCNA has any concern or will be able to assist you - my apologies for your situation it sucks. But yeah a lot of allocations and priority on the list are relationship based - and if you lose you advocate there is little you can do other than try and develop a new relationship.

I wish you luck on finding a vehicle for your needs.

Look, this was not the 1st transaction. I had put my name with them in 2015 for a 991.2 GT3, I did get the allocation, and I was number 1 or 2 customer to get my GT3 in December of 2017. So why would I expect anything else?

it was crazy back then also. I did get it for MSRP. Oh, and I have bought other cars from them. So yes, I did expect to get the RS and I hope they will deliver on the promise

Your probably running into a debate on the dealers end - give the 3RS to someone who bought multiple Cayenne's, sports cars, etc. in the past few years and they will get a markup (more profit). Or honor a list that they created before anyone had an idea this car would exist and sell at MSRP. Hate to say it, but this has been shared many times over. Those cars are going to the folks who buy cars regularly, or big ADM's, or any combination between. Not trying to make it personal, but just sharing that is the reality of how these cars are getting allocated.

Thanks for the advice…

Part of the reason I am posting here is to find out what few of the veteran GT owners in NorCal that dealt with Porsche Marin know. What is going on with them, any of you guys had transactions with them recently?

they used to pride themselves for being a msrp dealer that followed the deposit list.

with out being too snide that is probably why they had a recent change in mgmt…honestly I'm not trying to be snide.

Are you saying doing honest business is bad?

they sold the dealership, that’s what I meant with charge in management.

well they factually were leaving money on the table (at least short term money) - ADM's suck - but the level of profitability requires a nuanced and sophisticated agent for them to balance or ignore the profit potential…successful dealerships don't require either nuance or sophistication - it's regrettable but may be the way of things as long as Porsche keeps GT vehicle's constrained vs. building to meet demand.

I think you will discover Rennlist has gone the way of this dealer in Marin. That’s to say it’s gone to complete ****.

sorry this happened to you. They should’ve communicated more transparently.

Well….

The time I bought my 18” GT3 they did ignore the profitability potential. If everything in your business model or what you do for a living starts relying on profitability as the most important driving force, bad things start happening. I won’t give examples, but you can run your imagination.

If Porsche becomes another Lambo or Ferrari, I am out. I will be happy keeping my manual 911.2 GT3.
