Ray and all,
For those of you (like me) obsessed by rebuild projects, there is a similar thing going on for us Cessna Twin guys on Rebuild Rescue (a Cessna 401 left outside and unserviced for 10+ years due to an expensive AD from the FAA). He got the 401A title for "free" and is now going throuhg a complete rebuild (including removing all the bird and rat nests that built up).The dude can get a little cheezy but he is doing it right.
This from a recovering 421B pilot -- so fun to watch.

Maybe like this guy, he is wisely building his Internet fame and sponsorships to turn a really bad financial idea into a potentially free airplane. We will see. Like all these projects, there is way more to it than you initially think.
Unlike a GT3 project, if an engine stops in a 401 you can't just pull over to the side of the road. Things get real when you lose an engine in-flight. Don't ask me how I know.

It was cool to watch at first. It’s been a little drawn out for me now.
Mat has way more energy and better editing.
But I do hope they get it flying properly.

Glad to hear there are more pilots here. I don't fly much anymore. Too much going on here on the ground.

BTW Ray we should go flying.. I fly an L-39 out of GTU.

It's weird... even Matt from Obsessed Garage didn't seem to understand the logic of Mat's GT3 rebuild, and Matt from Obsessed Garage literally bought a 997 GT3 GT3RS to give away! I mean it's the same concept. Giving away the GT3RS gets him sales, and Mat rebuilding the crashed GT3 gets him more subscribers & views. His last video was even sponsored by eBay.
Its easy to understand, front end hits on a Porsche can be very tricky but at the same time look relatively superficial to the ill informed. Bottom line, there isn't much to the front end, it is literally a box frame (the clip) with everything hanging off it.
This is now compounded with GT cars having carbon fibre panels and specialist low volume forged suspension parts. After market components are non - existent and carbon fibre parts are difficult and extremely costly to repair.
The point being, its always going to be expensive to very expensive to fix. With labour, parts and paint you can be looking at a price tag similar to the cost of a new car.

I am not sure if he built enough vacuum lift during his refill. I was also confused by the hold vacuum for 55 minute comment from Champion Porsche. That really only helps establish that there are no leaks. I've done vacuum lift on a number of 911s, and even then I still use a garage incline ramp with the car nose down to assist the refill and help burp the system afterwards. I could only barely catch what vacuum lift system he was using, but a common mistake is not using high enough pressure through that venturi to build enough vacuum to actually get it all in. I'm sure he will figure it out though. If he fixed the car all in one video there wouldn't be enough content to make money from I suppose.

Also love these videos!!! I don’t know how he is in real life, but Matt comes across as such a HAPPY person in these vids!!! Find it so uplifting and fun to watch him and his crew…

This has been an awesome series of videos but if you think it’s over the top, Tavarish just started a rebuild series on the most intense flood damaged McLaren P1 ever.
