992 GT3 is an awesome car...but IMHO it’s no where close to a $300k car...esp. if you can’t even spec it. At $200k it’s a very nice car with solid value. Not at $300k. I’d take a 1-2 year old 720s or 600LT over it in a heartbeat. Probably a new Turbo S as well. To each their own though.

Everyone is different...but personally I’d wait until they get closer to MSRP. Prices WILL come down. The economy and market isn’t getting better in 2023...sure sure people will say ‘no one knows the future.’ But odds suggest I won’t die today (even though I could) and odds also suggest the economy is getting worse...not better.

Under 300k, you can get a low mileage 458 spider. It will really retain its value as the last NA v8. I wouldnt spend 300k on a gt3.

Definitely doesnt affect guys like us but dealers will have higher floor plan cost and will want to move stuff quicker.

Just for a GT3 or GT3 Touring, I refuse to get one with more than 1000 miles. Just a vision I have- I'd rather have new. If not under that threshold, looks like it's Jeep Cherokee if I sell the Turbo S next year. lmao

Smart man, your patience will be rewarded....let the price come to you. It's funny how there are several folks on here in denial that the car market, including GT3s, isn't going to continue to decline into 2023. I'm watching the Speciale market and think there's at least $50k+ price declines to come if not more.

Just like the GT3RS is not a $400k+ car and for that money I'd rather buy a Speciale (those prices are coming down too).

Yeah no more free money for dealers on flooring lines and the best part is as prices come down on used car dealer inventory these floor lenders will start requiring dealers to pay down their lines of credit to provide the lenders sufficient collateral. Flooring interest rates are only going higher as are auto loan rates for buyers as the Fed keeps hiking rates in 2023. The only thing that dealers have now is HOPE but as they say....HOPE DON'T FLOAT.

Speciale shot up from high 300k to low 500k. Now coming down to 400k zone.

Yeah, I remember looking at a few back in Dec 2020 just under $400k after the CGT miss but got busy with work then a year later prices were over $500k. I'm a buyer if prices come back down under $400k if I don't have a GT3RS either on order or in my garage.

80K over MSRP for a used, non-CPO’ed PDK GT3 seems nuts unless its a one-off PTS perfect spec and even then…

the real issue that screws up the market when flipper brokers are involved is they build terrible cars. I remember a few weeks ago, one of them had 4-5 awful combos in stock all asking 300+

shark blue black stripe pdk red brakes gold wheels 18 way seats red gauges yuck.

agate gold side stripes silver wheels red brakes 4 way seats pdk boring confused

cars built under duress? no idea but they were being flipped/sold through the "bigger used car dealers" in Texas, Charlotte mainly. Bad taste and early builds.

same thing with STO...so many ugly specs.

benefit of ferrari is even though many are similar, fewer are built hideous.

exotic / collector car market prices are directly related to the stock to flow metrics. car guys are busy bodies and have activity bias. but many have space limit and have to cut something loose for space or money reasons to get next thing. That leads to occasional mistakes. but when lots of cool models are being produced, that churn in garage space creates downstream froth in the market.

vip guys will sell their Gt3 when RS comes in or Dakar comes in, for better or worse this is the deal. when 992.2 comes out, something weird will trigger either crisis of faith or cult status onto 992.1 and prices will move because there are not that many new buyers and not many people can keep 2-3-4 cars of same variety. even seinfeld sells cars. even mooty will sell something eventually. but how good does that next thing have to be?

458 speciale is more fun than 488. people got burned there. it went like this: so guys sold their 458 for 458sp, then sold that for 488 and sold that for pista. then realized wait 458sp makes best noise and went and bought them back for 30-50k more. then supply shock. then BAT scam of bidding up your buddy's car now over 500k. then everyone asks 600k.

nobody paid 1M for a 911R in 16/17. I know people paid 400/500/550k. 1M asking? ok. pre-BAT scam. you ask 1m but don't want to sell. I offer mine at 550. looks like charity.

BUT- some people have paid 600-700k this cycle for one. pts ones.

4.0 997 was 350-450k FOREVER. now 600.

this happens with all cult classics. its usually because a very small number of people create a cartel and decide for the market.

this 3RS could be like that. so few coming to usa. you guys will know 20-30% of the buyers for sure. that's enough. if nobody sells, it is then a 500k car. Dakar will be very easy to do that with. even less coming to USA than seems logical considering how much farmland and desert landscape we have to play on. GT4RS is also super rare. more rare than touring probably- especially in pts/ WP.

Speaking of terrible specs and bat scams.

The person who specced 992 Gt3 moving today that looks like a Smurf was murdered inside should he banned from ever ordering another car from Porsche lol

Funny I ordered shark blue, gold wheels and red brakes (but manual) on my gt4 and I think the combo is awesome I also am totally cool with having a spec people don’t love, truly don’t care about the next owner haha I’m buying this for me and I track it so pccb wasn’t an option I wanted.

lastly I’m on the fence about GT4RS just because I intitally thought I would keeep my manual gt4 for a year and then go RS but now I just feel like I NEED a manual and can’t go back to pdk….but the GT4RS seems like the coolest car ever on fun factor (all I really care about) given what Chris Harris, the other top gear peeps and Doug demuro had to say about it…

And I personally think the GT4RS is about the ugliest GT car Porsche has put out.

I agree with this 100%. Beyond not going PCCB I went PDK. I am constantly rethinking this. I would never go anything but MT for street use. I make my kids learn on MT and its what I drive. But after last season being in the minority in a MT and realizing that PDK on the track is a whole different animal I went that direction. RL will tell me that its a mistake for resale. But my goal is to get faster in this car. I am looking forward to the PDK learning curve - watching it driven 'right' is pretty cool.
I viscerally agree with the MT predisposition here. But I wonder, if 5 years from now (when values are at 50% of MSRP ) and the primary buyer of these cars is track focused will PDK be a plus.
